They will never be forgotten 🙏
Today we stand in solidarity with @LFC in remembrance of the 97 fans who lost their lives as a result of the Hillsborough disaster, which occurred on 15 April 1989.
This was a team of hearts that played punk rock football with a smile and a style that makes them even today for many reds, the very beating heart for our club. Munich cemented the Busby babes in United folklore, this lot exploded on the 70's in unforgettable manner. One love.
Having had 24 hours to stew on the sacking, I think that the most concerning thing for me is how repetitive it feels.
I had some faith (perhaps delusional) that a new footballing structure above the manager would ensure that the days of simply sacking a manager with no contingency plan in place were behind us.
We've had over 10 years of this nonsense.
We have a disgusting record of throwing money at every manager and when they don't work out, we replace them with a new manager who wants to overhaul the squad. This results in players we can't sell, so they either hang around and stink the place out or we loan them out, praying another club is daft enough to buy them ... And this feels like it could be no different.
Will we pick a next manager who's style and approach suits the squad we have? Will he build on it? Or will he have a list of 5 targets who will cost £300m and need to be shoehorned in to the team, before he isn't given enough time to build and then he's sacked?
Are we going to get 'whoever is available' in and have the same bullshit merry-go-round again?
We can argue until the cows come home as to whether sacking Ruben was the right call, but the manner and timing in which they have done it gives me about as much confidence about how this board operates, as I would have if I were to leave a trifle in Luke Shaws fridge and ask him not to eat it.
It all just feels miserable and I'm tired of the whole thing.
Imagine a Manchester that’s greener, that cherishes our rivers and canals.
Imagine a connected network of 100 Miles of Nature in the heart of our city.
This week we launched Cyan Lines- our vision to do exactly that.
