It's depressing how fundamentally unserious some reflexive critiques of AI safety can be. There's been a lot of crying wolf, fake safetyism, unnecessary censorship, draconian ideas etc - and I'm glad this stuff is called out. But lots of criticism now feels like classic predictable polarised ideological point scoring. No interest in substance, only owning the libs and basement maximising edgelordism. Too few seem to actually grapple with the magnitude of what's coming.
