ضمن سلسلة الجلسات الحوارية التي ينظمها مركز الرافدين للحوار RCD عبر منصة Zoom، عقد المركز جلسة نقاشية إلكترونية بعنوان: “العراق والنظام العالمي بعد الحرب الباردة”، استضاف فيها السيد صامويل هيلفونت (Samuel Helfont)، زميل باحث زائر في معهد هوفر بجامعة ستانفورد(Stanford University)،، وأدارها م،.م. عمار كريم، مدير قسم الأبحاث في المركز.

افتتحت الجلسة بنقاش حول مدى استمرار تأثير مفاهيم “النظام العالمي الجديد” ومرحلة ما بعد الحرب الباردة على الواقع الدولي المعاصر، حيث أشار الضيف إلى أن هذه المرحلة ما تزال حاضرة في تفسير العديد من التحولات السياسية، رغم تراجع الالتزام بالقانون الدولي مقارنةً بما كان عليه في تسعينيات القرن الماضي.

كما تطرق النقاش إلى موقع العراق الجيوسياسي، باعتباره نقطة تقاطع إقليمي بين قوى متعددة، ما يجعله عرضةً للتأثيرات الخارجية، وفي الوقت ذاته مؤهلاً للعب دور الوسيط أو الجسر بين الأطراف المتنافسة.

وتأتي هذه الجلسة في إطار سعي المركز إلى تسليط الضوء على موقع العراق في التحولات الدولية المعاصرة، وفتح نقاش علمي حول التحديات التي تواجهه في ظل النظام العالمي بعد الحرب الباردة، واستشراف فرصه في أن يكون فاعلا اقليميا متوازنا.
