ASOIAF lore is hilarious because the books themselves are very low fantasy and could even pass for historical fiction at times, then you learn in the lore there's an island of Neanderthal whalers and King Kong exists and lives in a cursed ancient city deep in the jungle.

@AngrenostH @ChazakielDoremi The thing I think Wolfe excels at is his descriptions of how stories and people’s understanding of the past changes over time as knowledge is lost or morphs. There’s been some really fun “aha” moments I’ve had when I realize what something actually is.
