Senior Secondary Schools is trending because false reports are suggesting FG has scrapped JSS and SSS classes in Nigeria.

Primary 1-4 will be Grade 1-4 (Lower School)

Pry 5, 6.. JS1, 2 will be Grade 5-8 (Middle School)

JS3, SS1, SS2, SS3 will be Grade 9-12 (High School)

JS3 - Freshman Yr.
SS1 - Sophomore Yr.
SS2 - Junior Yr.
SS3 - Senior Yr.

Yesterday, the Minster of Education, suggested that they are exploring a 12-4 education system to replace the 6-3-3-4 education system that has been in use since 1983.

The Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa argued that the new system will bring Nigeria’s education to global standard, foster uninterrupted learning and facilitate early exposure to vocational and entrepreneurial skills, preparing students for both higher education and employment.

Basically, the 12-4 is same thing as 6-3-3-4, it’s just a nomenclature change.

However, instead of Primary 1. It will be Grade 1 to 12. Then, College (University) 4yrs. But the Minister said they will also be changing the curriculum.

This has not been approved by The National Council of Education (NCE). It’s still under discussion.

Nigerians unanimously argue it is an unnecessary development.
