The thing about Robby & Langdon is that they both saw the most idealized version of each other and wanted to BE each other (Robby living vicariously through Langdon what he sees as what his "undamaged" life could have been & Langdon looking at Robby as his future self)

Which is to say that the way they approach & touch each other is inherently tied to how they see themselves--the wound they inflict onto the other is inflicted back to the self & the love they show another is also reflected back

And I think the most fucked up part of it all is that when the said "ideal" is broken (Robby's ideal of Langdon being broken in S1 & Langdon's ideal of Robby being broken in s2)--they see their own wounded selves in each other.
