😂😂💯💯

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@ykefalov01 You said it!

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@ashwin_govindan yeet

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@liampeng_school me too

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@liampeng_school @frankel_naomi I agree

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

Seems fitting that the historical notes was a professor's lesson (like the reader was a student the whole time). Dramatic last sentence too

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

Anyone else draw parallels to Anne Frank's diary? Where one story provides insight into an entire society...

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@InCDorian I think the open endedness allows the reader to draw their own conclusions about the dystopian society and offred's fate.

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@ashwin_govindan 😱

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

Interesting to finally find out how gilead formed. The formation seemed very abrupt though, with minimal transition

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

Why might nick be helping offred and the commander secretly meet? What's in it for him?

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@frankel_naomi I think it signifies his ignorance. He doesn't understand how much of a struggle everyday life is for the handmaids

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

It was interesting to see how unorthodox a game of scrabble could be. Definitely shows the divide between this distopia and our society

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

What might offred sleeping in the closet represent? Is it significant at all?

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@frankel_naomi yeah. Also interesting how they justify with biblical text.

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

@frankel_naomi She probably finds sorrow in the story of Rachel, and also relates to it. Sad how her value is measured in fertility. #smh

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

There's so much doubt surrounding the newscast. What do you think the smile on the man that was about to get executed meant?

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

It seems like offred is becoming more and more rebellious. First she steals butter, then she gets frisky with nick. Good for her

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

there lots of unknowns regarding the narrator's past. Why not tell the reader upfront? Does the mystery help convey a certain message?

[Henok Getahun @HenokGetahun3]

The author's syntax is interesting. Everything is direct, w/ minimal transition. It creates a tone that reflects the characters' oppression.
