Actively looking for a remote #indiedev#gamedev programming job. Several years of #unity3d experience. Also very knowledgeable about #CSG level design and tools.
@phoondos@TafferKing451 Unity's progressive lightmapper renders a texture, one snapshot of realistic lighting. Further changes to light sources have no effect, it's just a photo. In my system shadows and bounce lighting are precomputed in such a way that all lights remain adjustable: color, on/off, etc.
@TheWillowFox22@huelesce@TheZombieKiller Yes, spot on! ๐ก Built from scratch as a labor of love- no Unity lights or lightmaps. I designed every rendering technique myself (bits instead of textures!). Cranks 1000+ sources at 1000+ FPS, with static lighting @unity can't match. Thrilled it's sparking curiosity! #Gloomwood
When we reworked the Gloomwood lightmap system last year, we commissioned Henry de Jonge to add additional features to his dynamic, Unreal Gold-style lightmap project for the kind of games we make, and allowed those features to remain part of the open source project.
@unity For reliable income, make Unity affordable? You are charging โฌ1877 per year (โฌ170/mo) to remove a splash screen. Game Maker Studio 2 charges โฌ4.99 or โฌ9.99 (or perpetual) and it's a good feeling to support the developers. Monthly millions just for removing the splash screen.
Dynamic Lighting for #unity3d inspired by Tim Sweeney's lighting system in Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament (1996-1999). Add it to your package manager (it's free and open source): https://t.co/bl6asJHkLG #indiedev#gamedev
@logicalerror In my custom user interface, only a single element (button, textbox, editing tool, ...) has focus and can override all user input, mouse, keyboard. A simple button can take complete control of the program, without exception, ensuring a predictable state. It paid off many times.
Working on my latest #unity3d tool, the 2D Shape Editor. Create complex 3D meshes out of 2D shapes. Supports #RealtimeCSG and #ChiselEditor with non-destructive generators. Add it to your Unity Package Manager: https://t.co/tpzut3bi5f #indiedev#gamedev https://t.co/F3zLLniGt6
A childhood dream becomes reality! I now generate my own electricity! Charging my cell phone, charging my tablet, the green power makes moss grow on the screen. And in case of power failure, I even have 230V 1500W available! It actually works- even without sun! #DIY
Working on #ChiselEditor more to provide the ability to merge selected brushes together using a convex hull. Other use-cases include generating a brush between one or more selected faces or randomized rocks out of a random set of points. #indiedev#gamedev#unity3d
I was trying #photogrammetry on a YouTube video this morning, thanks to the technique by https://t.co/0uW0HapK5C @PeterTheOne using ffmpeg to extract key frames. This is the video I used https://t.co/CZMq8XSFdT by Mansoor Geloo. Ended up using 41 images of 4K footage. #indiedev
@goobemaster Just make sure you use the GitHub version https://t.co/J038Nk62a6
We also have RealtimeCSG (faster algorithm) https://t.co/waXFl0yTAK
And are now collaborating on a new project called Chisel
https://t.co/bEQulvQut7
So that's two CSG world building tools for Unity + a dev project.
Experimenting with the new #ChiselEditor project at runtime. The CSG algorithm is so fast that you can attach brushes to rigid bodies. Creating VR level design tools using CSG brushes appears to be feasible now, and is next on my todo list. #indiedev#gamedev#unity3d
@valvesoftware I purchased the Valve Index and played Half Life: Alyx. My goodness you guys scared me so bad- Jeff made me panic and caused me to run away against my closet. With trembling hands and long pauses to muster up courage I made it to the end. Thank you! I loved it!
https://t.co/49f6jh8AbY I have sweaty hands as I experience a lot anxiety. My mouse gets messy over time, side buttons get stuck and I have to take a knife and cut out all of the goo. Nice. Using an antiperspirant on my hands has done wonders for me. Thanks @RealDoctorMike
