@arkaavs Chet is an incredible player against basically any team except this one. He just needs to be relentlessly criticized until he mans up against the Spurs.
@The_Uncontested It's pretty pathetic. Can't defeat them on the court, all they can do is impotently declare they'll whine on social media and attempt to write their legacy in real time. Pitiful.
@Unknown_hmmmmm@CollinCall_in@DeuceTheUchiha Power scaling is the reason that it would be a stupid story and poor writing. If you dislike that term being used to describe a concept you clearly understand, suggest a better one or stop being smarmy and quibbling about something that isn't really important, i.e. terminology
@NoHams76@KathAntonio7 The power scaling is what creates the need for a reason beyond numbers, it's crucial to the storytelling. The tough part is writing well enough to justify a non-intuitive result occurring (Batman beating Goku) without breaking immersion, causing cognitive dissonance.
@WeaselFidget@mahito211520@Voidsspace In other words, if it's in service of a payoff you like you don't care if it's logically inconsistent with the rest of the story. Narrative cause and effect, set-up are just silly nerd things. Consistency of writing doesn't play a critical role in the value of a character?
@FairyAngelbel@Fullmetal150 "the lesser character"
Yes, the "lesser" character according to some scale in the story, in this case the speed. You just power scaled. It's a pretty simple concept so why do you argue against it?
@DoomerSkelly13@hathaway_flash It appears you're just mad about the terms people are using to describe a fundamental aspect of writing logical cause and effect and characterization. What term would you prefer be used instead?
@DoomerSkelly13 The disparity in power creates the narrative opportunity for the themes to become relevant. If the tortoise could naturally beat the hare, the cautionary tale of the hare's hubris leading to his defeat in spite of his advantages would not be as impactful.
@Barkeye52@pinecone772@BenisKen So you're just annoyed about a term people are (correctly) using? Why do you care? Is there a term you would prefer be used? Let us know.
@BenisKen No, the power scaling simply states that a reason beyond sheer speed has to explain why the tortoise beats the hare. It's a very simple premise. That reason: the hare's hubris, driven by the difference in speed, leads it to think it can take a nap and still win (he's wrong).
@RockMuncher67 Notice how you resort to petty playground-style insults rather than argue the point. That's because your argumentation ability scales below elementary school.
@TortioSlopio@DeuceTheUchiha Why aren't you frustrated by the narrative breaking logical cause and effect? Does that not lessen the impact/break your immersion? You prefer stories that contradict themselves?
@Berni_3@DeuceTheUchiha It's not something that takes hours, but it does need to be considered. In most cases it's trivial: obviously Goku can defeat any normal dude. Just make sure a random dude doesn't beat him during the story. If he does beat Goku, you better be able to justify how by writing well.
