Mechanical mulching has been used to manage bushfire fuels on this site at Wheatsheaf in the Central Highlands. This work being led by CFA’s vegetation management team is making real impact on fuels and the environment. Love the tiny native orchids growing thru the mulch.
Fire Service capability being used to great effect. Secure water supply plus safe, progressive tactics ensured this fire was contained quickly to minimise damage. Great work team. 👍👏#CFAd15

Thanks to the joint D15/16 Strike Team who did some great work with local FFMV crews strengthening containment lines. This work will hopefully help protect the Mt Taylor/WyYung areas (and ultimately Bairnsdale) if the weather heats up and northerly winds return later in the week.
