HCFR is on scene of a vehicle crash on Spring Hill Drive just west of Waterfall Dr. ALL LANES of Spring Hill drive are shut down. Multiple emergency vehicles are on scene. Please find an alternative route until the crash scene is cleared.

HCFR is on scene of a brush fire under the transmission lines adjacent to the Suncoast Parkway south of US98. Firefighters are working to contain the fire. No structures in danger, smoke can be seen from the Suncoast Parkway but no traffic impacts are expected.

HCFR is on scene of a wildfire on the Oak Hills Golf Course property at 10059 Northcliffe Blvd. A contractor conducting a permitted burn by @FFS_Withlacooch with an Air Curtain Incinerator (ACI) had the fire escape igniting a large brush pile. HCFR is working to extinguish spot fires in the area and FFS-WFC is enroute. Smoke conditions in this area will persist until the fire can be extinguished.

ACI burns are conducted in pits with air assist devices used to accelerate burns at high temperatures to keep smoke impacts minimal to the area.

HCFR is on scene of a working structure fire in the 11000 block of Dempsey Rd in Brooksville. Please avoid the area while crews are working and expect lane closures on Dempsey Road for fire crews to work.

HCFR is on scene of a vehicle crash on I-75 SB near the 296 MM. A box truck went through the guardrails and is down the embankment. 1 lane is blocked on the curve. Use caution in the area as multiple emergencies vehicles are on scene.

⚠️ Smoke Condition Update 5/8/26⚠️
Smoke activity on the Wildbuck Fire behind Glenn Lakes west of US19 has significantly decreased today, especially within the interior cypress swamp. The Florida Forest Service - Withlacoochee Forestry Center @FFS_Withlacooch currently has one dozer on scene reinforcing containment lines and one brush truck conducting mop-up operations while addressing any remaining heat along the fire edge that could threaten containment. Crews will continue to monitor the fire throughout the weekend.

⚠️ Smoke Condition Update ⚠️
We are receiving numerous calls for smoke and odor investigations in the Weeki Wachee area and along the SR 50 corridor. The smoke is coming from a fully contained smoldering brush fire in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area west of US19 behind Glenn Lakes. The fire continues to smolder in swamp land that can not be fully extinguished. Winds coming from the west is pushing the smoke inland and smoke conditions may continue for several days.

We are asking the public to not call reporting the smell of smoke in the area unless you see active flames. @FFS_Withlacooch rangers are continuously monitoring the fire area and there is no threat to homes or surrounding forest land.

I-75 Brush Fire Update
2 lanes of SB I-75 have reopened. Crews remain on scene mopping up hot spots. Use caution in the area throughout the night as there may be smoke still in this area on I-75. Fire size is 1.1 acres and 70% contained. @FFS_Withlacooch remains on scene working hot spots.

UPDATE I-75 Brush Fire
ALL LANES OF SB I-75 are shut down at Church Road while crews work the brush fire. @FFS_Withlacooch is on scene working to establish containment lines. Fire size is approximately 1 acre, no structures in danger.
