@adamfergusonart Kinda ironic that the guy who makes the best pixel art landscapes in the world is making a top down game lmao.
Istg when i'll have money, I'll throw it at you.
Mark my words.
@Zennistrad@RobinPoedev@StillBRS listen I don't think a lot of people here are gonna disagree with you on the claim that capitalism isn't the best way to make games, but also robin clearly isn't talking about our toxic industry rn, he is just talking about the art, which isn't worse just because it's multiplayer
@frostsebaot@RobinPoedev@Zennistrad@StillBRS Will saying that I think we should fight this issue by using public funds or other nonprofit means to maintain games in museums as we do with other forms of art, work as an answer? (I know game museums already exist and that greedycorps would have a major problem with non profit)
@RobinPoedev@Zennistrad@StillBRS Well yeah multiplayer games cost money to maintain, that's the reason they shut down when they stop making money. I don't think you are adding anything to the topic, unless you think most gamers think that servers run on faerie dust,
which is fair ig
@RobinPoedev@mkisstillok3@arfa2706 Skyrim is doing a good job of incentivizing the player to explore, the problem is that its just an illusion as there is very little interesting stuff to find in the game. Unless you don't need good writing/plot to back it up, then I guess you are fine. Have you played Enderal tho
@makro_art@AntifaCostanza I just think you are treating the concepts of progression and gameplay loop way too loosey goosey like they are a similar thing. I agree with a lot of what you are saying here but MGS is truly the peak of original game design and the loop you described doesn't really fit the game
@JonasTyroller@ThatRobotnikGuy Often what's fun in a game is the discontinuity of gameplay (I'm actually trying to write a paper on that), fresh mechanics is one thing, but you can always just flip a game on it's head! There is no law that says, you can't do that.
