Father Joseph taught me to thank God through my teeth sometimes, for every small thing.
I have a brain disease that gives me brain tumor symptoms, at times I have no control over my mood. Even though I’m actually suffering from serious trials, sometimes it feels like I can’t get it together like I used to.

I remember the morning I was trying to get to the hospital to be with my mother after her stroke. I kept stopping to cry, and thank God for my toast and for giving me the strength to take a few bites. For having extra honey for my tea. For how comfortable my bed was. My loving husband. My families ability to put aside our anger with each other temporarily. A parking spot being open or the elevator working.

It starts off sometimes with an eyeroll and by the end you’re warm and just thankful to be here.
