@S_Hammond Ever wondered why road construction takes so long in the UK? UK government pays for the number of days contractors need, other governments pay a fixed price for say putting in a roundabout. Go figure.
And with the complete disdain by the establishment for tax revenue producing developments, it’s no wonder arts funding is having a tough time in Scotland. All part of the same incompetence. @brianjaffa
Hi @theSpurtle turns out it’s not just me who is good at predicting the future of @rhspt’s Old Royal High School, @johnmclellan is as well… My money is also on his prediction for the future. Care to put in an opposing wager?

@The_Q_R@theSpurtle@rhspt@brianjaffa The time for these arguments is far behind us but the £3M annual tax revenues for City of Edinburgh could have been used for good causes. You propose to shut down the Rolls Royce and Jaguar factories as well? A Rosewood doesn’t do zero hour contracts, it’s not a Travelodge.
@mangowhizz@brianjaffa When megaphoning the opinions of a select few goes wrong... the jolly of jumping on bandwagons rather than thinking critically for oneself...
@brianjaffa Would the @rhspt be willing to share a copy of the lease ? Ours at the time had a very specific description of the deliverable scheme and I wonder what the terms are of yours...? 🤣
@siftscotland@mcsuk It has been a tad disappointing to see the light touch recommendations @siftscotland has put on wild harvesting of seaweed. Monitoring of #biodiversity loss should have been the least of the recommendations?
@RobertKennedyJr 5 billion years of product development vs about 25, maybe 20? 🤔 Bill is single issue focused on the eradication of malaria and neglects the systems view of nature. You cannot pick and choose your battles.
The #Brexit brigade did not realise that after Brexit no UK citizens could leave for Europe anymore. With an equal number of immigrations needed in the UK, the net immigration has only gone up! #owngoal#Conservatives
Data released by the Office for National Statistics today showed that about 1.2m people moved to the UK in 2022 and 557,000 emigrated. It means immigration added a city roughly the size of Glasgow to the UK’s population last year
Unless use of our natural resources is paid for properly, we will continue to abuse our planet.
The sewage and nitrogen continues to deplete our marine life, on which we rely to feed ourselves.
@magicwhiteboard I wouldn't want to swim in it but it's happened forever everywhere.
The cost to 100% stop it would more than triple water bills.
Its always been there. You're just far more aware of it.
@elonmusk@peterrhague@elonmusk makes a typical and convenient mistake - he forgets the cost of nature externalities. The issue of brine disposal and the devastating impact on marine biodiversity is priced at zero by him. There are solutions for it being worked on, but "absurdly cheap" is not correct.
