Her name was Gisèle Halimi. Born in Tunisia in 1927 to a Jewish mother and Muslim father. Refused to eat as a child until her parents treated her the same as her brothers. She became a lawyer.
In 1960 Algeria was fighting for independence from France. The French military was using torture in its colonial prisons. Women were being assaulted, electrocuted and beaten in custody.
Nobody would defend them. Gisèle did. She stood in French courtrooms and forced the military to answer for what they had done. She made France look at itself. She won cases nobody thought were possible. Then she kept going.
She spent the next 40 years dismantling every French law that failed women. She fought for abortion rights when abortion was illegal. She argued that r*pe was not a minor offence when French courts treated it as one. She won both. She changed French law so many times the legal establishment stopped counting. When she died in 2020 France called her the most fearless lawyer in its history.
My best friend Loki has crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. Despite our best efforts, his condition deteriorated again very very badly, and he was suffering too much. He couldn't even sleep anymore because of the pain, despite the medication. He is free from any pain now.
I love you so much buddy and I'm sorry for everything that happened to you. You've been the bravest & the kindest dog. I'm so proud to have been your human. Thank you for all the joy you brought me & for having been my best friend and my best ally. Rest in peace my sweet baby ♥️
LOKI IS BACK HOME... AND HE'S WALKING AGAIN (here with my mom) ♥️ He still looks drunk but compared to last week when he couldn't even stand or move his legs, there have been HUGE progress 🥹 !! Even the vets were surprised. I think it's safe to say he's a paralysis survivor 💪🏻🥹
There was some complications. Loki got a pulmonary edema because of the anesthesia & nearly died. Fortunately the vets managed to save him ! ♥️ As of today, he is still weak and paralyzed, but seems to be improving ! He can now move his legs a lil bit 💪🏻 I know u can do it buddy
I remember that exactly 1 week ago today I was in tears because the vet was telling me there was little hope for Loki to walk again, but look at him now 🥹🥹🥹 The physiotherapy sessions really paid off 🥹😭 and Loki has been very brave and inclined to get better 💪🏻
@StarbellMiyane Oh no I'm so sorry, I don't have words... I didn't know Starbell but we were mutuals and I really liked reading her on my TL. She has been so brave. Thank you for having been here for her until the end. May she rest in peace 🙏🏻♥️🥺

Please, have my best friend Loki in your thoughts, he's on the operating table right now because of several slipped discs that have left him paralyzed... Please be okay and walk again buddy 😭😭😭

@Taegilie Pour l'instant oui, Minhwan est en hiatus en attendant qu'une décision soit prise (qu'il reste ou quitte le groupe), ça va dépendre de l'avancée de l'enquête j'imagine 😖
