@TheCinesthetic So glad you mentioned this. One of my favorite movies of all time. Ready for a rewatch. A rare instance where I like how Emile breaks the fourth wall and smiles at the camera.
@JosephKahn Canter’s is still good. And we have a surprisingly great spot in Orange County (in Orange) called Benjie’s. Agree that Jerry’s was the spot.
Hey @JacobsVegasLife - just wanted to say I’ve enjoyed your posts for a long time. I’m one of those folks that lost some love for Vegas over the years, but you do a great job of selling the city. And I always enjoy returning. My faves are Golden Steer (of course), Siegel’s Bagelmania and the former Peppermill. Keep up the great work!
@FarazJaka I think an overtly strong move like asking for a chip total or scanning your stack, followed by not following through, is a strong tell. You can hear the thought process.
@CinemaTweets1 I think the reason the scene is so great is that it was written by a playwright, David Mamet. Every word is calculated with tremendous style and personality. Not going to get that in Captain Avengers Part 28.
In fact, Chernobyl is the best television series ever made, in my opinion. I rewatch it once a year. Most impressive, they not only turned an environmental threat (radiation) into a terrifying monster, but they did it with an invisible threat (unlike lava, tornados, etc), making great use of the sounds from the radiation meters. Great ensemble cast, wardrobe, set design. Really feels like you were there.
