@gtmom She’ll look into disability assessments, wonder if her kid has test anxiety, and consider if test taking accommodations would make sense. These efforts do not address potential learning gaps.
She will personally need to pursue solutions until her child has measurable success.
@OldHollowTree Visit the farm in the fall to taste test the apples first. This is how I made my list:

Branley - baking
Rubinette - smaller
Cherry Cox

This week, a 7th grader told me he’d finished all his schoolwork and asked if he could listen to a podcast of @LexFridman interviewing the creator of OpenClaw.
YES.
@DoctorTro “Most remarkably, MK-7 not only suppressed arterial stiffening but also resulted in an unprecedented statistically significant improvement of vascular elasticity, both measured with ultrasound techniques and PWV in a healthy population.”

@LolaRxstar@jennyrozelle If there’s a relative you wouldn’t want to care for your kids, that’s a motivating factor. At a certain age this list won’t matter, so it may never be needed. An older child can take over too. Pick a series of friends/families that you think would be loving, responsible, and fun.
@anenglishteachr@flowidealism Parents think they need to ask admin permission to switch to private school or homeschool, but all you do is fill out a piece of paper which unenrolls your child and relieves the district of their legal requirement to provide that student an education. Your kids belong to you.
@hormonedietdoc A student recently observed that predators are typically calm, while prey animals are often high strung and always on high alert. His hypothesis was that the calm was related to meat consumption and that humans could benefit from doing the same.
@cboyack Looking forward to the conversations your book will generate.
I’ve discovered many people have an off-the-cuff response they’ll give for this scenario, but they can’t articulate how they formed their opinion or how their wealth philosophy will apply to their children.
@JeffreyBiles What is the ideal sequence plus APs for a middle school student who is headed towards mechanical engineering?
When they reach APs, should they skip over AP Physics 1 & 2, and go straight to AP Physics C: E & M?
Ground floor opportunity:
“UATX is seeking a visionary engineer and educator for the position of Applied Engineering Lead to serve as the architect of our new engineering laboratory in Bastrop and to help us build the future of technical education.”

@critikids Designing apps with only the youngest students in mind.
I’ve seen several situations where a struggling older student would consider using the app to fill in gaps in their knowledge, but the interface, animations, and sound effects were too babyish.
