Couples fight for one main reason. The issue is a tug of war between people trying to give or take power from each other. It's not about the cups on the counter, or the clothes on the floor. It's communication and power. Do we feel heard & understood? https://t.co/rsrPsfJRxk
@seerutkchawla I believe all feelings are valid. However, I also firmly believe that whether valid or not you do not have Carte Blanche to behave however you’d like. Feeling angry, hurt, sad, scared, anxious or whatever does not give someone permission to attack others.
@JarretCF @sbkaufman Editing is necessary for me and my thumbs. I never type properly the first time - and it takes too much effort to proof read 280 characters before tapping ‘tweet’😆😉 showing all edits however would seriously make ppl question my sanity (but at least they’d know I’m not a bot)🤣
@sbkaufman It prompts me often. Though Twitter, so far, hasn’t asked if I’m high. Generally they say something like, “You seem intelligent, are you sure you want to post that?” 😆🤣
@MHBloggerRT I’m at https://t.co/mhqjXUvQKO I would appreciate being included if you like what you see there. I blog about mental health, relationships, and coaching
@ItsGoneAwry Well, depends. I’ve had some people think/say they’re being blunt when they’re insulting someone. Blunt in the sense of not padding your response with, ‘wow that sounds really hard.” Isn’t mean. But it also isn’t kind. (I tend toward blunt)
@AramLeary@sbkaufman I agree! I blve some ppl take it as a personal slight when someone appears to thrive. "How can they be so happy? They've got all these bad things going on, my life should be better than theirs; I'm not as happy as they seem. They must be lying. How dare they make me feel bad!"
@AramLeary@sbkaufman Luckily I realized then, and now, that its more about them than me. I didn’t take it too personally. But it is odd to me how people get so upset about someone else’s happiness.
@seerutkchawla OTOH
- “You stupid, filthy bleepedy bleep you cause all these things because you exist”
-“its okay to disagree, but name calling isn’t okay”
-“How dare you tone police me! It’s okay to be angry!”
Can’t win, can we?
@scottheidi576 My baby got mad when I started working on my abs more. He wanted the comfier cuddle - and didn’t like hurting his hand when he punched me 🤣 (we play fight a lot)
@brianlabelle This is ableist toward people with scoliosis 😆 (I kind of want it for my very curved daughter. She’d hate me - and love wearing it all at once)
@brianlabelle To be fair, there was a lot more acceptance for sewer rat, rig pig, and the hundreds of comments about lack of intelligence directed toward people concerned about anything Covid brought. I’d rather vote NDP than UCP, but the NDP are not kind or respectful to anyone who ?s them.
This year I want a healthier relationship with trust. This requires critical thinking and smart trust vs blind trust or distrust.
I believe this will make my life sweeter and make my possibilities more likely to become reality.
My word for the year is ‘Trust’. I am prone to distrust. I am prone to believe the worst first. I tend to require (excessive) proof of trustworthiness before I lean in. On the flip side I also tend to trust too easily. I am prone to believe what others tell me until proven false.
