I've been tracking what ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity recommend across B2B categories for 90 days.
Hundreds of prompts. Thousands of citations logged.
Here's what the data actually shows: (1/n)
What we actually did for our first client, in order. An industrial equipment seller with a website that brought in nothing.
1. Wrote down every question a buyer asks before ordering a pneumatic cylinder. Not keywords. Questions.
2. Ran those questions through ChatGPT and watched the searches it made in the background to answer them. Those searches told us which supporting pages had to exist.
3. Built exactly those pages: one brand comparison, one types guide, spec pages with indicative prices, a force calculator that ends at a quote button.
4. Made the business look like one business everywhere: same name, same description, on the site, Google Business Profile and every directory.
5. Every month, read what the AI answers said and fixed the gaps.
Website live in April.
By September the client counts 80 to 90 purchase enquiries a month, which at its typical order is $40K to $45K of pipeline.
Google, Microsoft and our own answer tracking are on the case study page, with the caveats written out.
If you sell one specific thing to businesses, reply with what it is. I will tell you the first three questions an assistant needs your site to answer.
If you are paying someone to get you mentioned on Reddit "for AI visibility", read this before the next invoice.
OpenLens compared identical ChatGPT prompts before and after August 8. Reddit's share of citations went from 2.93% to 0.12%.
The places that gained:
- government and law pages
- standards bodies
- a brand's own pricing, scope and policy pages
Same number of citations per answer. The sources moved.
Caveats, because they matter: one vendor's dataset, and Claude went the opposite way on news. Trust the direction, not the second decimal.
What I would spend the retainer on instead:
1. Plain-language pricing, scope and policy pages with dates and numbers on them
2. A listing with the standards body or trade association for your category
3. A customer reading your about page next to what an assistant says about you
Reddit is still where some buyers live. It is no longer a door into ChatGPT's answers.
Reply with your category and I will name the list that counts as official for it.
ChatGPT now searches for brands with the word "official". Adding it to your title tag is the small part. The search is ChatGPT asking which site is really you. Answer that first: one name everywhere, an about page that settles it, one domain. Then the title.
Your Search Console already has a ChatGPT report. Nobody labelled it.
Open Performance, then Queries, then Custom regex. Paste this:
(?i)(site:.*official|official.*site:)
Every row that appears is ChatGPT running a background search to check whether your site is the real brand. Lily Ray found the pattern.
Two more filters worth a minute:
- prompt words and follow-ups (explain, act as, yes go on), Jean-Christophe Chouinard's regex
- an API export into Excel once the table hits its 1,000-row cap, Glenn Gabe's method
@suganthan has the full write-up with every regex to paste.
Look at the clicks column. Near zero, every time.
That column is what "AI search" costs you: the answer was given, the visit never happened.
Paste the first regex and reply with how many rows you got.
94% of B2B buyers fact-check what an AI told them (TrustRadius, 1,862 buyers, July 2026).
Getting named gets you in the room. Proof someone can inspect keeps you there.
Described accurately by AI: 96% of brands. Recommended when a buyer asks a category question: 11%. (Victorious, 175 brands, July 2026)
Being known was never the problem. Being chosen is.
Your sales team answers the same four questions every week by email.
Buyers now ask an AI those same questions before they email anyone. It answers from what is public.
Publish the answers. The question is already validated; a keyword is a guess.
Patient suffering doubled since coming to @MaxHealthcare@DrAmbrishMithal
Not because of doctors but because of utter poor management by Max Vaishali.
My father - who is admitted for severe abdominal pain got first doctor visit 3 hours later. Endoscopy scheduled for today (postponed by them to tomorrow - only because theyโre openly admitting more patients they can accommodate). Promised a room yesterday - now saying isnโt possible until tomorrow (that also I guess a fake promise).
Your greed for money shouldnโt come at the cost of patients - who show trust and faith in this institution of life.
No bed. Procedure delayed because of too many patients. (Doctor admitting this openly).
Father came with severe abdominal pain - now suffering with headache as well. Caused by them.

The team just calls - hears you and then doesnโt update.
@DrAmbrishMithal - You seem active on Twitter/X - care to help?
We couldโve avoided the admission if told in advance weโd have to face these issues.

From today Cloudflare blocks mixed-use AI crawlers by default on ad-bearing pages for new and free-tier sites (announced July 1).
If you want AI assistants recommending you, check that default this week. Every default is now a decision.
