@Headteacherchat@PaulGarvey4 I'm fortunate to have employed a number of previous heads and deputy heads into non-headship roles at my online school, Highgrove Education, and they've been uniformly brilliant. Explaining why you're looking to change role in your cover letter is helpful.
One day it will be over and I will be writing poems about love, but it’s kind of impossible while I consume all this information about murders and destruction . I wish I could just live life but unfortunately I am still human enough to care .
@TheEconomist Cracking article. I haven't had difficulty recruiting top quality teachers for my online school, @HighgroveOnline. Working from home and avoiding canteen drama is an equal pull for students and teachers.
Why would anyone go to an online school? 🤷♀️
There are as many reasons as there are pupils. Traditional schools don't work for everyone.
Highgrove Online School offers an outstanding online education, based on that of a top UK independent school.
@benVWbaker@BraaiKing_Bad I'm looking for a physics teacher for Highgrove Online School... pretty much none of the problems of mainstream education, and we specialise in kids who are academically ambitious and want to achieve great things. DM me if you're interested ;)
@WendyMissons@naomicfisher It's an online school. The classroom environment ranges from kitchens in Luton and Austria to a veranda in Zimbabwe, bedrooms in Hong Kong, and a penthouse in London. But we're also now partnering with schools looking to introduce this approach in a more traditional setting.
@DCA61980303@C_Hendrick@naomicfisher Means we're selective but don't only take the top 10%. We entrance test to check students will be ready to take the courses they enrol on. I e. no point taking Physics A level if you don't get an 7 or above at GCSE in it because it's so hard, you'll be lost.
@BarryJWoods@naomicfisher I guess my point was that you don't need to focus on getting outstanding academic results to get them. We focus on supporting pupils to manage themselves and their learning, and use coaching to promote well-being and personal growth. The knock on effect is cracking results.
@DHTDurrant@naomicfisher@AlisonGopnik Yep sure. It's https://t.co/JbHVU1OyCU. We hold regular open events if you're interested in finding out more how we structure teaching and learning... we work very differently to traditional schooling, with a focus on independent learning and coaching.
@C_Hendrick@naomicfisher@AlisonGopnik Yes, but not massively. We've got a really high value added score, meaning we're improving outcomes in comparison to expectations. But we make it clear that we promote independent learning, so perhaps the kids who choose to study with us are more intrinsically motivated.
@naomicfisher Yep, I totally sympathise. I'm just not convinced that classes of 30 kids is a great environment in which to learn. 60% of our teaching is asynchronous. Imagine face to face schooling with less staff time for teaching, more for coaching, smaller classes, and more flexibility...
@naomicfisher I totally disagree that the only way to achieve good results is through high control regimes. My online school got some of the best results in the country at A level last year by giving kids responsibility for their own learning and coaching to learn to use this freedom well.
@brassoteach You shouldn't need to do this anymore. Chat GPT can produce a good first draft of reports for editing. Share your typical report style and a bullet point list of things you want to get across and it will give you a decent starting point... can cut down drafting time massively.
