Conservative midwest girl in the animal pharmaceutical industry. Tired of libs burning down our country … had to leave my beloved STL for sunny freedom
15 years ago, I was paired with a college roommate at random. I had selected to live in the international dorms, so my roommate was supposed to be from a foreign country. He was from China, however, instead of being Chinese, he was a red headed kid from Illinois, whose family had been living in China for his father’s job.
He was a Catholic. Being from rural Oklahoma, I knew next to nothing about Catholics other than what my mother told us about them worshiping Mary instead of Jesus. I was largely non-religious, so I didn’t ask him too many questions about his faith other than a couple about the church’s relationship to Mary.
My roommate would attend mass weekly throughout our four years living together and would invite me to attend Easter mass with him, but fell away from the faith for a time following graduation.
He was my first exposure to the faith I, over a decade later, would convert to.
During my conversion, I would message and keep him updated about my spiritual journey.
One day, a couple of years ago, I received a package in the mail from him, containing a letter and a rosary.
In the letter, he told me that my own conversion, and the baptism of my son, had encouraged him to heed to Lord’s call to bring him back to the church.
He and I have since completed Exodus 90 together, and keep one another updated as to our faith journey.
Last week, he gave me a call and let me know that, he’s decided to leave his career as an engineer, and will be officially applying to the seminary to become a priest.
I’m so unbelievably proud. I can’t wait for the day that I attend a mass he presides over.
Keep him in your prayers, that his application process goes well, and his studies afterwards.
Thanks be to God! What a blessing.
This is a disgrace.
A Gulf War Marine veteran named Albert O’Toole who served this country, took a blast that left him with TBI, and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s was beaten by his aide Matthew Cox inside the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, New York.
His wife Angela Sangro became concerned after seeing unexplained bruises and heavy sedation. She installed a hidden camera. The footage shows the aide yanking food out of Albert’s hands, grabbing him by the neck, throwing him into a chair, punching him, and striking him in the head with a broom while he cried out in pain. No one came to help.
The state fired the abuser.
But the federal VA? Still has him employed. Still paying him while the case drags on.
You make veterans fight through hell just to get the benefits and compensation they earned with their blood and sacrifice. You move fast to cut or reduce what’s owed to them.
But when one of your own is caught on camera assaulting a defenseless veteran? You keep him on the federal payroll like it’s nothing.
@SecVetAffairs you talk about accountability. Here it is. Fire this man from the VA now. No pay. No protection. No more dragging it out.
@SecWar our warriors come home broken from fighting for this nation. They deserve better than a system that protects abusers while making veterans fight for every dollar they earned.
@SpeakerJohnson this is on you too. Oversight without teeth is just theater. Do your job.
This isn’t how you treat the men and women who served. This is a betrayal.
Veterans FIRST.
Zero tolerance for those who abuse them.
Immediate action. No excuses.
If you’re not outraged by this, you’re not paying attention.
Semper Fi.

You dumb fucking liberals are so fucking stupid! You vote for Democrats & their policies then you move to States like Florida & Texas because you can't afford to live under the policies you voted for-then you're dumb enough to vote for a Democrat again so they can implement the same policies you ran away from! Liberals are without a doubt the dumbest mother fuckers on earth!
Interesting day at church today! A young lady, age 17, sat in front of us with her grandfather at DL and then asked if I could point her to lunch and coffee hour afterwards. She said she was raised Christian, but not any particular denomination.
Her grandfather was an imposing man with a deep Southern accent. I learned over lunch that he was of Greek and Serbian ancestry, and that his mother's family had been persecuted by the despotic communist dictator Tito and escaped to the US. He was not Orthodox, though, and neither was she, but I digress...
His granddaughter was pretty but also very meek and shy - long hair, headscarf, no makeup, very modestly dressed. She said this was their first visit and already she was very eager to speak with our priest to inquire about becoming a catechumen. (‼️) I invited them to sit with us at lunch and introduced them to a few people. We said grace and ate ... and then, according to her grandfather, a miracle occurred.
She went over and started talking to the other young people. Her grandfather was staggered. He said, "I've never seen her talk to a boy, or even other young people her age. She's never been on a date!" And there she was, just ... blossoming ... in the presence of other people of faith. She was smiling and clearly having a wonderful time. And needless to say, the boys were buzzing around her and one of the other young ladies like a hive of honeybees. I was so happy!
So Orthodox fellas, don't despair. Not all Gen Z women are lost. They are starting to figure this out and come around. Just give them time. Glory to God for all things!
Standing in a group of six people and none of them have heard the news about Tulsi Gabbard’s information drop regarding Fauci. It’s true, if you aren’t on X, you are living in an alternate, less informed, timeline.
God bless
@RepWesleyBellMO 😏 You'll always be remembered in St.Louis for not making dead beat dads pay their child support...We've advanced to deadbeat moms now...
STL, before we look at Chicago and say, "See, it could be worse,". Remember that our Board of Comrades and mayor have the same mentality as their mayor. Since we are a red state, we don't have their unconstitutional gun laws, and our police dept. is no longer under the mayor.
🚨An hour ago, Iran Shut the Hormuz again.
"You had one job, restrain your blood thirsty ally, but you couldn't even do that" Iran's Embassy tweets to the US.
Unless I’m working in an ER, working as a paramedic, or working as a firefighter, there’s no reason I should be expected to “thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.” Just fix the terrible management and stop running your office like a circus.
Annual mammograms are recommended as "preventative" care for women over 40.
Even for women who have no family history of breast cancer.
We don't even need a doctor's order. We can just call and make an appointment to get one done, and our insurance covers it.
So, many women who have no family history follow the "preventative" care guideline and subject healthy breast tissue to radiation year after year. Sometimes doing it every six months.
I understand that mammograms have detected breast cancer early and helped save lives.
But, due to the radiation, it is believed that with repeated mammograms, out of every 1 woman saved from cancer, 9 women will develop breast cancer.
Women who would've not developed breast cancer at all had they not gotten the mammograms.
That is the risk women take. And the more mammograms a woman gets, the higher the risk.
I had a mammogram once. They told me that they saw a few very small "spots" on one of my breasts.
They said that my tissue was too dense and they needed to do an ultrasound to "get a better look."
If the ultrasound gives them a better look and it doesn't subject me to radiation, why not do that to begin with?
They did the ultrasound and told me the spots were nothing to worry about, but they wanted me to come back in 6 months for a repeat mammogram.
I asked, "Why a mammogram? Why not just a repeat ultrasound?"
They had no solid answer and just said that a mammogram was required before any other testing could be done.
That was over five years ago. I never went back.
I don't believe mammograms are necessary.
They disrupt healthy breast tissue, put the woman at a higher risk of developing cancer, and can give false positives, which further increases the risk of cancer by disrupting breast tissue with invasive procedures like a biopsy.
If women have a family history of breast cancer or they find a lump, etc, a mammogram can be useful.
But there are other preventative ways to check breast tissue that don't put the woman at risk of developing cancer.
The sad thing is, those other ways need a doctor's order and are sometimes not even covered by insurance unless a woman first subjects herself to a mammogram.
