The pandemic was a turning point for my finances.
I was lucky my job was safe, salary increased and costs went down.
But I was on a high wage and living pay check to pay check. I never want to be in a position where o rely on luck again.
This year I will reach my ISA limit
@n00b_investor Read the comments everyone saying Red
maybe I could make more I'd I went back to 6 but $10m is more than I will ever need in my life, would let me do whatever I want and keep my amazing family.
This question is nothing about money - it's basically are you happy with life.
If I had to take one, I'd take the blue pill even if it cost me money. There's nothing I would do to risk not having my wife and son.
@Moralist_metric@bigjeffd@PicturesFoIder 35% income tax
5% national insurance
for me last year
Theoretically split but all goes into the same general taxation pot. All needed to be paid to stay out of prison
This is before sales taxes, property taxes, etc
@FI_imagineer@ContrarianSaver The taxes are very confusing for us foreigners visiting
I guess it means that national chains can advertise the same price everywhere, most countries don't have different sales taxes across the country
@AcdntlyRetired I work with a lot of people that have net worths from ยฃ5m to ยฃ50m that put in 60/70 hour weeks
Are over worked, stressed, don't see their families and burnt out.
I'll never make it to their level because I'll take my feet off the gas well before then
@AcdntlyRetired ๐คฃ it's hard to tell as it's much more evenly split than you would imagine
Those that make money their whole personality and their main objective never have enough
@n00b_investor Technically 1/12th of 5.12% and if spent evenly over the month 1/24th and if your spending on mortgage/investments etc is front loaded then less than 1/24th
@n00b_investor Varies between 26% to 30%
Helps that I have 8% match so 16% goes in my pension before I even have to think about anything.
After that I put 9% in on pay day and whatever I have left at the end of the month gets split between sinking funds (holiday etc) and investing
