Chaim and his group have clearly taken to heart the frustration that many Cardinals have had when it comes to transparency in recent years, and from Day 1 have looked to build trust with the fanbase/media.
For example: Chaim was asked about Zach Mortimer promotion to director of amateur acquisitions. He joked about how not only were they not actually ready to announce it publicly, but they hadn’t even fully announced it to their own baseball operations department.
And yet, Chaim said “but when you promise transparency, I’m not going to hide the ball to you guys” with a smile on his face. He then proceeded to talk through the changes, and even shared about some internal meetings they had just had in St. Louis this past week.
Last week on @DealinTheCards, farm director Larry Day even shared about how those meetings were happening at that very moment. These are the kinds of things that, in the past, the Cardinals were reluctant to acknowledge or provide clarity on in those stages of the process, if even at all.
Listening to Chaim Bloom’s presser on the Brendan Donovan trade, I have to point out again how refreshing it is to hear him address questions with specificity and clarity. They are doing a great job of trying to peel back the curtain in an appropriate way
The Cardinals may not win 50 games this season, but I’d rather them be awful and have a clear direction than continue middling in mediocrity with no direction.
