If you think photographing birds in flight is difficult, you want to try moths! 😅
This is a wonderful Hummingbird Hawkmoth, photographed yesterday from my bedroom window, just as it banked around to change direction! 😀😍 Just look at that proboscis 😁🦋
Our horsebox was stolen today from our yard in Exeter Road, Newmarket between 12 noon and 3.30pm. If anyone has any information as to its whereabouts we would be very grateful to hear from you. All shares very much appreciated.
A Police Horse Became Famous for Refusing to Start the Day Without His Morning Tea
Jake, a Cleveland Bay horse with the Merseyside Police Mounted Section in Liverpool, became well known for one unusual morning routine—he wouldn't head out on duty until he had his cup of tea.
The habit began after Jake repeatedly tried to sip tea from officers' and stable staff's mugs. Instead of stopping him, his handlers decided to prepare a special version just for him.
Every morning, Jake was served a drink made with decaffeinated tea, skim milk, two teaspoons of sugar, and a splash of cold water so it was comfortable to drink. Once he had finished, he was ready to begin the day's work.
Behind the charming ritual was a dedicated police horse with around 15 years of service. Jake helped patrol football matches, worked at the Aintree Races, supported public order operations during the 2011 riots, and took part in duties connected with the 2012 London Olympics.
His unique routine captured people's hearts around the world and even inspired a British tea company to send him a special care package of decaffeinated tea.
Sometimes, it's the smallest traditions that make the biggest heroes even more memorable.
