Three problems with your chemistry lecture:

1. "Needs compression before cooking" is flat wrong. 50 lakh+ gobar gas plants in Indian villages have cooked on raw, uncompressed biogas piped straight from the digester dome for decades. Compression is for bottling CBG, not for a stove.

2. "Death if inhaled": you inhale sewer gas when you climb into a sewer. At a stove you burn it. Combustion is not inhalation. Basic category error.

3. The man is real. Shyam Rao Shirke of Chhattisgarh patented bio-CNG from sewage sludge, rigged a bubble collector and a drum gas-holder on a nallah, and a household cooked on that gas for 4-5 months. Chhattisgarh Science & Technology funded him. Modi retold that story at World Biofuel Day, the literal event for this science, and said upfront he had read about it.

You have already conceded the methane is there and is usable. So the charge has shrunk from "scientific illiteracy" to "his 30-second retelling of a real rig skipped the drum". Meanwhile the same science became GOBARdhan and SATAT, and Indore's Bio-CNG plant runs city buses on gas from waste. Keep going, this is fun.
