I was the first to calculate a heliocentric system, but I had to abandon my work because the calculations showed the orbits were not perfectly circular as believed to be mandatory by the science of the time. #controversy

I was the first to figure out that a year was 365 1/4 days long. In my time of about 365.2425 days, an error of about 6 min per year, an hour per decade, 10 hours per century, thats pretty good for 150 b.c.

So why am I relevant in the world of astronomy? One of my greatest discoveries was a way to reliably figure out when solar and lunar eclipses would occur. I didn't need all of that fancy technology either!
