Writing evals is a core PM skill now.
If you're shipping AI features and you can't tell me whether your model got better or worse this week, we have a problem.
An eval is just a unit test for your model. A quiz.
"Given this input, did you get the right answer?"
You don't write one generic eval. You write one per use case, one per thing your product actually needs to do well.
You are the PM for a B2C product that has an ad-based monetization model. One day, there are no ads served and the revenues plummet to zero. What would be your strategy to deal with this crisis?

Some things just are more subjective than objective.
It is better to be direct with your team about how you see a thing – how many parts objective, how many parts subjective – than to waste time casting a veil of complete objectivity over something that is inherently subjective.
Startup advice that works if you make it work:
1. Solve a problem that many, many people have.
2. Bootstrap as long as you can.
3. Get good at making money, not spending.
4. Do things that don't scale until you can scale.
5. Build solid relationships to build a solid team.
😞Bad PMs: The Glass is half full. There's nothing we can do.
🙂Good PMs: The Glass is half empty. We can fill it with something!
🤔Great PMs: What problem is this Glass trying to solve?
⭐Superb PMs: What value can this Glass deliver to our users?

Tip: Use timeframes
Real numbers are more compelling than generalizations like "fast" or "quickly."
Be specific and use direct timeframes to convey more value.
Example:
@alexbunardzic@allenholub So the premise in my opinion is simple Alex -> Give people freedom and independence. Autonomy is the simplest tool to get maximum value out of the employees. A manager can help guide you onto the biggest challenge - THE WHAT. HOW is the employee's job.
An advice about dropping out from a college dropout 👇
Don't do it.
Ignore the FOMO. Just get done with college.
The average startup founder is 45 years old. You have a lot of time to work on your ideas.
Also, not every dropout makes it big. Have a degree to fall back on.
Decision drift is when you decide something, but then your commitment drifts. Your team feels they are going back to the drawing board often. How are we supposed to fix decision drift? "Decide and commit! Identify the directly responsible individual!"
