Lack of Government Support Threatens 12th Mombasa Open Martial Arts Championship
The Ministry of Sports has drawn criticism for not providing funds for the 12th Mombasa Open Tong-IL Moo-Do International Martial Arts Championship 2024.
With more than 35 countries attending, the event faces cancellation without government support.
The Kenya Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation has issued a plea to President William Ruto, urging him to act against what they label as sabotage by ministry officials.
They argue that 37 years of federation development are at risk.
"Hello Cyprian. Thank you for the good work you do. God bless you.Kindly assist to highlight the concern raised by the below athletes. The tournament has been taking place in Mombasa every year for the last 12 years. Kenya has won every tournament since. This year with over 35 countries confirming their participation the GOK through the ministry of sports has NOT released funding. It is appalling and shameful as some of the teams are already in the country. Kindly hide my ID"
