M&M Black's shop on Atholl Street, Dunkeld photographed upon its closure in 1989. The shop was bought by the Black family from the Campbell's in 1951.
On the left is Margaret Black, and on the right is Morag Black.
We have made some changes this week with the help of the Dunkeld and Birnam Men's shed. We now have a designated shop area within the archive!

A lovely photograph from our Scottish Horse collection. This young man is unnamed but it is estimated to be from 1916. π
This image would have been created by combining two photographic negatives to create one final image, a romantic little love token for the couple whilst they were apart.
He has his sweetheart on his mind ππ
We have an undated photograph of a Cavalry Lance Corporal from our Scottish Horse collection. This photograph features an inset image of what we assume to be the Soldier's wife or girlfriend.

This photograph shows the Scottish Horse Remounts in Krugersdorp in August 1901 (during the Second Boer War). The remounts were responsible for the training of the regiment's horses and mules.

Our contribution to #nationalhandwritingday is a letter from Alexander "Dundonnachie" Robertson, leader of the Dunkeld Bridge Toll Riots. This letter focuses on the slander of the Judge George Young and features some very passionate language. It is dated 30th of October 1886.

Book of Christmas carols with Esso branding promoting Simβs garage in Birnam. These booklets were created by Esso and were personalised for individual garages. This item is undated estimated from the 1950s to 60s.
We have had a fabulous 2024 and couldn't have done it without the support of all of our amazing volunteers, visitors and followers.
We will be closed over the festive season from the 24th of December until the 6th of January 2025.
