I’m reminded again by @TiyaMilesTAM , who (along with others) says that the “twin crimes of American history” are slavery and Native American genocide. This is our foundation.
the cruel nature of the US is its birthright. It is exactly who we, as a country, are. (As individuals, no. As a country, yes). Sometimes cruelty wins. Sometimes it’s held at bay. Cruelty won again last night.
@malgorzatar That’s… kind of amazing?? Btw, I assigned history comes alive for my grad students. If you zoomed in to chat with us, I could play music for your intro?…

Hello. Young kids back in school are so sick right now. Everyone with a preschooler has an entire household of sleepless viral cough snot fevers for the past two months without a fucking break. So if you know a parent going through this, be kind and gently hit them with your car.
@KathrynWilson8 @lizzo@librarycongress Absolutely! The @librarycongress doesn’t play around when it comes to conservation. If they think the flute can be properly/safely handled and played, I trust them.
Most musical instruments are meant to be played, even after 200 years or more. Proper care over time ensures that. Plus, crystal doesn’t degrade like fabric. I think it’s amazing that @lizzo got to play that #flute@librarycongress !
