@HistoryWJacob In Braddock’s disaster Washington had two horses shot out from under him and had four bullet holes in his coat yet walked away unharmed. He credited the All-powerful dispensations of Providence for his luck. A minister said he was bulletproof being saved for future service.
@HistoryFanGuy The buildup to WW2 was what finally pulled us out of the great depression.
I have an extensive library of Architectural Record magazines and the defense infrastructure projects started showing up in 1938 issues.
One under recognized American everyday: Day 30:FDR. Not under recognized but I would be remiss to mention all the Roosevelt’s but FDR. The only US president elected to more than two terms. He helped guide the nation through WWII and the Great Depression.

The Greatest Generation 🫡🇺🇸
On June 6, 1944 (D-Day), about 18,000 Allied paratroopers from the U.S. 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, and British and Canadian units, parachuted into occupied France.
May we never forget these heroes.
82 years ago today, June 6, 1944.
American soldiers waded onto Omaha Beach under fire to begin the liberation of Western Europe.
We honor their sacrifice. 🇺🇸
The success of the D-Day landings was just the beginning of Operation Overlord.
Hard months of fighting lay ahead, but Hitler's Atlantic Wall was breached and the Liberation of Europe was well underway.
One Declaration of Independence signer everyday. Charles Carroll. Carroll was the only Catholic to sign the Declaration of Independence and also the signer who lived the longest living until 1832 and the an amazing 95 years old.
He also was an original member of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad putting 40,000 into its founding and on July 4, 1828 90 year old Carroll laid the railroads first cornerstone. After Adams and Jefferson died he was the last link to the Declaration dying in 1832.
