This week I was joined by Dominic Etzold to discuss his most recent book titled Reaping the Whirlwind: The U-Boat War off North America during World War I.

Out now! My Interview with Patricia Cecil about the Sacred Service exhibit at @TheWWImuseum. We also chat in depth about chaplains during #WW1 and their challenging experiences. https://t.co/TjMuQInF0R
Due to a trip I am taking in September (BoB Airshow, Normandy, Maginot, Verdun, and many other exciting destinations) the release of normal episodes will be greatly disrupted. There will be an excellent set of interviews on both podcasts though!

History of the Great War started on this day 10 years ago. It has been a long, fun, road. And there is even more History of the Great War on the horizon!
I have been doing this podcast thing for 10 years, that sure is a long time.
But this post is about the future! Most importantly the return of Member exclusive episodes starting right now. Read more about the road ahead over on Patreon.

I am gathering names for historians that are interested in #BattleofBritain interviews for the podcast. So if you or someone you know would be interested in chatting about anything related to the BoB (aviation, naval, social, German, British, etc.) let me know!
Procrastinating on putting the finishing touches on my @GreatWarGroup article for an upcoming Salient Points by.....reading an issue of Salient Points. Issue 13 on the Isonzo was a fun read.
So @PikeGrey1418 when you are starting to freak out tomorrow, blame the earlier issue.
@TaubHistory I will withhold final judgement until all the episodes have rolled out, but I think it generally has problems deciding how best to make the audience care about the people we are seeing. This lowers the emotional stakes (which it is obviously counting on) of the action.
@SashoTodorov1 @TaubHistory It doesn't help that 90% of their faces are covered when they are in the air, which makes it quite challenging to tell who you are looking at sometimes even with all of their efforts to make people look different.
@jesse_history I think I probably sounded more negative than I meant. I meant that the French forces had greater detail, with smaller units represented on the map and a far greater emphasis on their movements.

Just hit publish on the End of the Year podcast update. A bit of reflection on 2023, what is upcoming and some information about what I am doing to celebrate a decade of podcasting. Great War listeners might find interesting information within ;)

Planning a Sep 2024 history excursion across the Atlantic for father's 70th. Looking for tour/guide recommendations for:
* Normandy (2-3 days)
* Verdun (1-2 days)
* Ypres (1 day, from Brussels)
Also looking for thoughts on Arnhem vs Bastogne for the 4th destination.
