Students have been battling it out at this years Spelling Bee. Well done to everyone that took part and a huge congratulations to Hussainali for coming 1st place!
Thank you to members of our local community, staff and student council who attended and organised such a wonderful VE Day street party.
Miss Thomas has been busy this lunchtime, selling copies of the Harborne Academy Times Commemorative Edition to raise money for Help The Heroes
Yr9 students visited the National Holocaust Centre and Museum. They visited the exhibition, toured the memorial gardens, considered what the Holocaust was, and who was responsible. They were also fortunate enough to hear the testimony of Holocaust survivor Arek Hersh.
Today a group of our yr9 students joined thousands of others to come together to mark Holocaust Memorial Day by hearing the testimony of Holocaust survivor Mala Tribich MBE. The students were able to hear Mala's story and submit their own questions for Mala to answer about WW2.
Yesterday, our 8 finalists went head-to-head in the final! The student’s spelling was phenomenal but there could only be one Champion.Well done to Amir in year 10!(special mention to Aamina in year 7 who spelt antidisestablishmentarianism like it was a three-letter word!)
5 students worked together from across different year groups to create the winning poster of our LGBT+ History Month competition! The poster highlights that whilst we may all be different in our own way; we are all made up of the same ingredients! A great message to celebrate!
This week’s assembly celebrates LGBT+ History month, delivered by Miss Thomas. The theme for this year is Medicine #UnderTheScope and the focus is on individuals in the community who have done amazing things within the field of medicine and healthcare!
So proud of our amazing cast and crew! Show week has been manic but it is all worth it when we see our students showing their friends and family their amazing talents! #proudteacher
What a fantastic performance from our students who took part in the High School Musical. A massive well done to you all, not forgetting all the work that went on behind the scenes.
We are very proud of you!

It’s been brilliant having the opportunity to deliver an assembly to all year groups, looking forward to LGBT+ history month.
The focus: how to be an active ally.
Students were engaged and it sparked some excellent conversations!
@hmccord78 just wanted to pop on here and thank you again Helen for such a brilliant session on teaching and learning about the Holocaust today at @MyBCU . Some excellent resources shared and an incredible lesson modeled! Feeling excited to implement the changes discussed.
Year 10s loved completing this poster using the AQA conflict and tension 1918-1939 revision guides to source the information.
The focus: Could appeasement be justified?
@VickyBingham Hi Vicky, I am a TeachFirst trainee in my second year and I have an upcoming assignment where I am planning an intervention with year 9s. I am looking to discuss black tudors and was keen to see if you would be happy to share these resources? Thanks, Hannah
It’s worth school staff being aware of the name Andrew Tate at the start of the new school year. With 11 Billion views on TikTok he is spouting dangerous misogynistic and homophobic abuse daily & some of his views are from boys as young as 13.
