Committing to play D3 isn’t “settling”, it’s a significant achievement of commitment, focus and hard work especially when 7% or less of HS players go onto college.
Off-Season Player Development
Coaches: Do your players know how much can change in ONE off-season
Too many players underestimate what can change in just 1 off-season
ONE conversation with a player can change the trajectory of their season & career & maybe their life.
What’s one area of each of your player’s game they need to improve the most that could change next season for that player and your TEAM?
Players — take a look at the colleges sitting on your baselines watching you. Those are the programs making the effort to evaluate you, and they should absolutely be colleges you’re considering in your recruitment process. 📍
Just starting your recruiting process?
Researching schools while building your college list is critical to ensure you have options that fit you beyond your sport

Looking for someone hungry that wants to get into the business. Every assistant that has worked for me has gone on to get a full time position. I have had 1 assistant become a D3 Head Coach, 2 D1 Assistant, 1 AD, 3 Small College Full time Assistants, 1 Full Time Player Dev Role
MYTH: 'You need D1 to be a pro or build a successful career.'
REALITY: D3 grads are pro sports execs, doctors, lawyers, teachers, Fortune 500 CEOs... and yes, even pro athletes
Plus an elite education, a social life, summer break, and zero NIL or athletic scholarship pressure
D3 or JUCO?
As a former D3 athlete I can relate to kids not wanting to go D3 at first… but that’s basically all because of perception. The truth is D3s have some of the best schools in the country.
This is also a regional topic because a kid in Texas is probably more likely to go JUCO than a kid from New England where we grow up on D3 being around. Would love to hear you guys thoughts!
The Off-Season is Separation Season.
For programs that are serious about improvement and growth, they know the off-season is a time to separate from their competition.
Intentional Player Development - What does our program need to get better at as a team?
What does each individual player need to improve in?

If there’s a tournament that actually needed expansion it’s the D3 tournament.
A 64-team tournament for 408 teams. Thats 15% of the sport in the postseason tournament, which has to make it one of the harder sports to reach the postseason.
