To strengthen feed, fodder, and forage seed production, RAB, through RDDP II, has established a modern forage cultivation site in Karama, @NyagatareDistr, featuring high-quality legume and cereal forage varieties.

As a pilot model farm for genetic improvement, RAB offers farmers the opportunity to apply for improved breeding stock, enabling them to upgrade their herds, enhance productivity, and increase their incomes.

Through the Ruminant Program, RAB established a goat farm at Nyagatare Station to advance goat genetic improvement and increase meat productivity. The farm rears 3key goat breeds—the Local, Galla&Boer breeds—and serves as a model for the dissemination of superior breeding stock.

As part of this effort, RAB offers cattle farmers the opportunity to acquire Inyambo breeding stock. By introducing this exceptional breed into their herds, farmers contribute to the conservation of a national heritage while benefiting from improved breeding opportunities.

At Karama Farm, RAB is safeguarding Rwanda’s most treasured indigenous cattle breed—the Inyambo. This initiative aims to conserve the breed’s unique genetic resources and ensure that this symbol of Rwanda’s rich cultural and livestock heritage thrives for generations to come.
