Tissue Engineering/Regenerative Medicine lab headed by @KatieRHixon focused on improving treatment and facilitating musculoskeletal healing at @Dartmouth
Jewelia has now returned to @GeiselMed to finish her 4th year of medical school. We are so excited to follow all of her future accomplishments 🥂🎆🙌 @HixonLab@thayerschool@dartmouth
Congratulations to Jewelia Durant for successfully defending her MS! Her thesis—Pigment-Inclusive, Bilayered, Tissue-Engineered Skin Substitute as a Model for Autologous Skin Grafting—was incredible. WOW we are proud of you! The lab’s 1st grad student, and what a bar you’ve set!
We are so proud of our very own Calista Adler who was recently named a Goldwater Fellow!! Read more about this exciting accomplishment here: https://t.co/Iaiu1DA2wb

We are so proud of our (official) Ph.D. CANDIDATE Amritha Anup!! Amritha continues to display incredible leadership skills, technical expertise, and generally good vibes (as the lab would say). We are so grateful for her and excited to witness her next science accomplishments! 🔥
At this year's @BMESociety Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MS student Anisia Tiplea '24 (pictured) presented her senior honors thesis, and @HixonLab gave an invited talk on their bone regeneration work supported by the Dartmouth Innovations Accelerator for Cancer! 👏
The @HixonLab had the best time at @PatchOrchards on Sunday! Pumpkins, Apple Picking, Cider/Donuts, and a Corn Maze (oh my!) We are grateful for such an awesome group of students and love when we can celebrate their hard work with FUN like this!🍎👻 @thayerschool @dartmouth
We are very grateful to the Dartmouth Innovations Accelerator for Cancer (DIAC), the Geisel School of Medicine, and the Magnuson Center for supporting our research on tissue engineering in oncology! Read all about it here: https://t.co/JxqFxYj9ht

Pics from @HixonLab's 2024 "Lab Camp"–a chance for lab members to learn from each other and ensure good technique and safety! 👏 “We have officially reached 2 YEARS of grad students in the Hixon Lab and I am so proud of everything they have learned and accomplished!”–@KatieRHixon
We have made it to DAY 5: 2024 @HixonLab Camp hosted by Peter Bertone! Peter, leader of our in vivo studies, has done a fantastic job getting our bone healing models up and running! Today he is training the group on handling, surgery, and imaging techniques. What a week! 🥼
DAY 4: 2024 @HixonLab Camp is hosted by Jewelia Durant! Jewelia recently finished her 3rd yr of medical school and is taking a gap year to complete an MS with our group. Due to her previous molecular bio expertise, she is teaching all things RNA, cDNA, western blot, qPCR, and IF!
DAY 3: 2024 @HixonLab Camp is hosted by Levi Olevsky! Levi, another of our Ph.D. candidates, came to our lab with a strong background in mechanical engineering. He is the clear go-to for teaching us the ropes in mechanical testing/interpretation, 3D printing, sintering, and FTIR!
DAY 2: 2024 @HixonLab Camp is hosted by Amritha Anup! Despite just finishing the first year of her PhD, Amritha has been with us since the lab started in 2022. Today AA is teaching silk fibroin extraction (for our scaffolds), as well electrospinning and nanoparticle fabrication!
DAY 1: 2024 @HixonLab Camp is hosted by Adelaide Cagle! Adelaide has been absolutely dominating the cell and tissue culture game this past year - what better way to highlight this than for her to host a workshop centered around all things cells?! PS they chose to start at 9am 😂
We have officially reached 2 YEARS of grad students in the @HixonLab and I am so proud of everything they have learned and accomplished! To check-in, I decided we'd do a "Lab Camp" before school starts. Not only will this ensure that everyone is practicing appropriate 🧵 1/3
Peter Bertone, PhD student & Surgical Innovation Fellow in @HixonLab, won this year's @ORSsociety@isfrfractures 3-Minute Research Pitch Competition!🎉
