The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mourning federal wildlife officer David Taylor, 38 of Scio, Oregon, who is believed to have died while helping evacuate residents threatened by the Railroad South Fire.

Officer Taylor was going door to door alongside local emergency crews helping families get to safety. His last contact with dispatch came while he was helping a family evacuate their home. Evidence recovered from a structure where he was working to help a resident escape indicates that he died during the evacuation effort. Formal identification remains pending with the medical examiner.

Everything we know about David's actions reflects extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, fellow officers and all who served alongside him. We will never forget his service.

Complete bullshit. 99.99% of people lawfully concealing carrying are doing so to defend themselves and others. He was in a highly populated area; it’s completely logical to bring extra ammo. I’ve done it, and most of my friends have done it. None of us were planning to do anything; we were just preparing for the worst.

The amount of ammo and an optic aren’t evidence of anything, especially intent.

I carry a glock 19 with a surefire x300 and a red dot. I carry two spare mags most of the time. I do this grocery shopping. I carry this to church. I carry this to a friend's house for dinner. I generally carry it around the house. It's just second nature.

I'm not an activist and don't go to protests, but if I did, I would also carry it because I'm always armed. I also would not grapple with law enforcement while carrying a gun because I realize there is a very high probability I'll end up getting shot when they see it as I'm wrestling with them.

I'd simply not resist unless I was willing to die and intended to hold court on the street, because I would assume that possibility would be a very probable outcome while doing so.
