@DChadwickAuthor Mormons were founded by Joseph Smith, who went around calling literally all Christian churches part of the "Great Apostasy" and then wrote his own bible.
So tell me more about this "otherizing."
@Manhattva I've tried reading the Book of Mormon.
Twain hits the nail right on the head.
Smith wanted it to sound KJV-esque so the prose is deliberately convoluted, verbose, tiresome, and dull.
@LDS_Dems "He sent us here to gain bodies and experience"
Come again?
What like before being born we were just souls hanging out somewhere?
How long? Like, eternally?
@TheGermanicist Mormons are "Christians" the way that "trans-women" are women. Maybe that will clarify things for you. Because you can't take wording, replace all of its content, and then act like nothing has changed.
@joshnaa2gez Yeah, and all those times Paul had parallel harsh, instructive, gate-keeper things to say in the Epistles, I guess that was him just not being Christian either?
@Mormonger It's also a pretty hypocritical look being salty over being called "not a biblical Christian".
Your guy felt the need to go write a new bible! The Bible was quite literally not enough for you guys! Why would you even care about the label "biblical"?
@Mormonger Yeah, we know you think that. We know that Smith screamed at every Christian church that they were part of a "Great Apostasy" and felt the need to rewrite every part of doctrine including who Jesus was.
Which is why it's absurd for you to act like victims for being "excluded".
@PeacemakingSt You're convincing precisely no one by saying that your faith rests on asking God "with a sincere heart" so that when people tell you they don't buy it, you can just accuse them of not being sincere. It's goofy, mindless, and stupid.
@CatholicInUtah You cannot go and write your own bible!
You cannot scream about the "Great Apostasy" and then be mad that you're categorized differently!
FFS.
@Kintsugijin Clearly you don't. Mormonism's whole thing was being separate from the Christian churches and calling them not wrong (the way that Presbys/Episcopalians/Catholics consider each other wrong) but APOSTATE.
@MerianneJensen@orthodoxronin Their should be archaeological evidence. Linguistic evidence. Genetic evidence. That's exactly the kind of historical event that, if true, leaves evidence EVERYWHERE.
Yet you never appeal to any of those. Never anything but gauzy "prayer". Why is that, Merianne?
@MerianneJensen@orthodoxronin And it's really not persuasive seeing the way that Mormons only ever appeal to "prayer", as though stirring up feelings is all they have.
Your holy word alleges that Amerindians were Hebrews who came across the Atlantic. If true, there should be TONS of evidence for that.
