Congrats to the recipients of the Empowering Lupus Research awards!
This partnership with @RheumResearch supports early-career scientists and junior investigators advancing rheumatology and lupus research. The selected projects focus on lupus and its connections to menopause, cardiovascular disease, immunometabolism, aging, and more.

I am happy to share our latest work leveraging machine learning (ML) to detect lupus from serum proteomic profiles. Now available online in Arthritis & Rheumatology. https://t.co/1S9mpBu5Dv
Our results show that ML-based proteomics models could identify preexisting lupus with excellent performance across independent cohorts and proteomic profiling platforms reaching a ROC-AUC of 0.96 ± 0.03.
NEW! Curious about how genetics influence autoimmune disease risk? Tune in & hear from @HocaogluMd, who dives into the study of antinuclear antibody production using data from the All of Us Research Program → https://t.co/hT34GkajXp @ACR_Journals
Thank you for supporting our research! @ArthritisFdn. Our goal is to develop prediction models powered by machine learning/AI and find new drug targets for the prevention of rheumatoid arthritis.
For his research, Dr. Hocaoglu will investigate genetic and environmental risk factors that underlie the development of preclinical rheumatoid arthritis and the progression to full-blown disease. https://t.co/TVypDw1xyZ
I am happy to share that our abstract on the polymyalgia rheumatica GWAS from UK Biobank and Finngen has been accepted as a poster presentation for the upcoming #ACR2023. Thank you to @chaz_hong Drs. Perry and Mikdashi for their support!
Just accepted in Arthritis & Rheumatology:
Incidence, Prevalence, and Mortality of Lupus Nephritis: A Population-Based Study Over Four Decades—The Lupus Midwest Network (LUMEN)

Do you think ANA is being over utilized? Check out our virtual poster! Our population-based study shows 12% of all females and %6 of all males have been tested at least once in the past 20 years in our geographic region. #ACR22@lain_sanchez@AliDuarteMD@CrowsonCindy
