@plumbjulie74 @JeremyVineOn5 It depends on how long it takes to issue a passport, which depends on the time of year and whether it is a first passport or a renewal; and whether people even realize that they can renew it up to 9 months before expiry.

We can only guess at how many people renew up to 9 months before 3 months before expiry, and how many of those don't realize and get caught out. Maybe another 10% or so try to book or travel and find it expired. We did once.

@plumbjulie74 @JeremyVineOn5 You now need at least 3 months passport validity (recommended 6 months), before the *expiry date* is up, *and* before 10 years *since issued* are up, carefully calculated for each individual family member.
Up to around 10% of "unexpired" UK passports risk not being accepted.

Pets, dairy, health cover, work visa, residence permit, passport expiry dates, musicians on tour, roaming, UK credit card with foreign address, all used to "just work" before Brexit.
