@isabellasg3 Its not a judgement, being mean or rude. Its a strong warning. If your answer to everything is "i shouldn't have to" or "nobody told me" that's ok, but then do not go full self custody. You will be safer and better off with some extra help and still can use bitcoin.

Obviously there was an error, but that option is what almost all other hww vendors give you. Coldcard is pretty much the only one with a dice option and a guide warning you if you care to RTFM.

@entirelyuseles @brucefenton 🤡 you clearly didn't read the paranoid guide. the screenshot shows the trade-offs between different seed generation methods it mentions. the paranoid guide then continues with the dice rolls and passphrase.

@MattBBTC nvk's point was valid here as any hww company can easily hurt their users with a malicious firmware upgrade. Not all are open source, or give tools to protect users from the hww company itself. The takeaway is a hww company should aim for this, without vendor lock-in.

@brucefenton Self custody looks easy but Coldcard especially is an advanved tool that gives you all the options. There are best practices that work but also have tradeoffs and its easy to shoot yourself in the foot.

@stephanlivera Multi-vendor yes, disagree with the first sentence. Its right there in the paranoid guide from coldcard. They gave all the options - "Dice Only: This method can remove all trust in the COLDCARD's hardware, as all of your entropy is produced by your dice rolls".
