2 years ago, Alameda maintained pretty strict delta neutrality most of the time, generally trying quite hard to make sure our PNL was from spreads and arbs. Today, not so much -- we got ... uh, really long in winter 2020, for instance. What changed?

It was born out of the 2008 financial crisis - a crisis caused by reckless institutional leverage, illiquid assets and severe counterparty risk. A crisis that caused mass contagion and financial losses.
We have come full circle.
14/ As @VinnyLingham pointed out today: In crypto, you're already taking on significant risk as it is. Why add leverage and further compound said risk?
I think in the case of 3AC it's clear: Greed.
9/ But the lack of transparency and accountability in crypto, especially when it comes to executive level decision-making (again - see @stablekwon, @terra_money and @LFG_org) means there is another risk - the risk that the insolvent company tries to trade out of insolvency.
At the end of the day, we need to go back to fundamentals. Build real products, not reliant on short term incentives, or promotions, but with intrinsic value that people use.
