As an important aside, I really hope that - somewhere down the line - the *whopping* number of 1600+ people who've signed our #KeepUsConnected petition re: @RailwayMuseum's plans for #LeemanRoad are heard. We haven't been (yet). @DavidHeaton38 you've been a hero with this. πͺβ
It's only right that all parties declared a #ClimateEmergency at last night's @CityofYork meeting π props to @XR_York's work and brilliant, brilliant speakers, here! Let's hope the cross party appetite remains for deeds as well as the words. 1/3
Also a very welcome dose of reality from @LabourYork Womens' Forum's brilliant #RealLivingWage campaign. Great to see @HolgateLabour's Rachel Melly + the brilliant @eAnneKerr remind @CityofYork why we need a real living wage for *all* staff carrying out its services. ππ 2/3
*Breathes* also pleasing to see @YorkLabourCllrs motion for action on declining + now infamous state of @CityofYork's roads pass, too.π¨ Roads under last Labour admin were in a far better state - more money is needed but not the only thing to consider. π²π΅π 3/3 #ItsHowYouUseIt
Been in touch with the Environment Agency this morning and am monitoring the river levels. The next 24 hours are critical, so if you have any concern please check the Environment Agency website.
I canβt quite describe what is happening in Parliament other than watching the Government car crash in slow motion, but tragically taking the country down with it.
Great day's campaigning 4 @LabourYork out in #Westfield + #Holgate today. Lovely blue + sunny skies were a nice antidote for tired legs!π£ Really good chats with residents, interesting debates + some laughs too - all topped off by a few good dogs to pet! π Time for a brew...β
β οΈ Riverside walk between Jubilee Terrace + Scarborough Bridge flooded. β οΈ So better use alternatives like Leeman Rd (while we still can) to get to/from city centre. π€ PS: https://t.co/rFh0stlEOB #KeepUsConnected
So the Transport Secretary ran away from answering a transport question today and got the Health Secretary to step in. He has to be held to account for his abject failures and wasting Β£bns of tax payers money. Why wonβt the Prime Minister sack him?
Depressing: a constituent's paperwork (from just 2 years) of having to fight to simply get the Personal Independence Payment she needs... If only those wanting blood on benefit fraud were equally angry about people not getting the help they need. (She's given permission to share)
It was a great pleasure to be with the @UKLabour members in York Outer today with the excellent PPC @AnnaPerrett. Will will win this seat come a #GE2019 Bring it on π
