🚨 **CALLING ALL FEMALE NHS WORKERS** 🚨
If you’re a member of @unisontheunion , you might want to know what your union is campaigning for.
In this video, UNISON’s general secretary Andrea Egan says the union wants the law changed so it is easier for men who identify as women to be legally recognised as women.
This isn't about pronouns or paperwork.
It is about whether women can expect spaces such as toilets, showers and changing rooms to remain for women only.
We have already seen what happens when employers get this wrong.
The Darlington Nurses had to take their NHS Trust to court after a male colleague who identified as a woman was allowed to use their changing room.
Nurse Sandie Peggie was suspended and investigated after objecting to sharing a female changing room with a male doctor who identified as a woman.
Both succeeded in significant parts of their legal cases - but legal action should never have been necessary.
These were women simply asking to get changed at work without a man present.
Egan also appears confused about the law.
The new EHRC guidance covers services and public functions. Workplace toilets, showers and changing rooms are governed separately by the 1992 Workplace Regulations.
Perhaps she is simply making a political point.
But the absence of any acknowledgement of female workers’ rights to privacy and dignity is extraordinary for the leader of a union whose membership is overwhelmingly female.
So if you’re a female healthcare worker paying UNISON membership fees, it’s worth knowing that your money may be helping fund campaigns that aim to weaken the rights of women and girls.
If that doesn’t sit well with you, perhaps it’s time to ask whether UNISON is still the right union for you.
@GoldsmithsUCU You couldn’t fit the word ‘fascist’ in a few more times, could you? And maybe you could help us understand how Zionism is related to this issue, or has just become a general term of abuse? Can’t believe they let you anywhere near impressionable young people.
@SimoneBrow72208@jan_murray You’re an ideological idiot, Simone. Of course it remained a story of public interest. The question of public interest is why Cambridge University was, apparently, so keen to appoint a man based on the colour of his skin, rather than his suitability for the job.
“The worst thing about this trial… is it cannot possibly tell us any useful information… it’s the most worthless science.”
@HJoyceGender joins @TalkTV to explain why the puberty-blocker trial will not provide the answers its supporters claim.
@HelenWebberley No serious clinician would make a video like this. I have no idea what your motives are, but the well-being of psychologically unwell children isn’t one of them.
🤔 Harriet Harman just went on national television and said this with a straight face:
“The only way we’ll have a woman leader of the Labour Party next time is if we start a conversation now where we say that actually, men cannot stand for the leadership next time. What we need to do is for women’s ambition to be encouraged and male ambition to be discouraged.”
Let that sink in.
A senior Labour figure is openly calling for men to be barred from standing and for male ambition itself to be actively discouraged. Not “encourage more women”. Not “equality”. Straight-up: lock men out and tell boys their ambition is the problem.
The best person for the job should get the job, full stop. Anything else is identity politics over competence, and it’s toxic.
What message does this send to every young man or boy who works hard and wants to lead? Your ambition is unwelcome. Sit down so we can force a preferred outcome.
Just when you think Labour’s gender obsession couldn’t get more extreme, they manage to lower the bar again.
Meritocracy or discrimination. You can’t have both.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been given by the Scottish government, the NHS and local councils to a charity which helps trans women – i.e. biological men – try to give human milk to their babies.
As the Times reported this week, the charity provides a space for people ‘breastfeeding, chestfeeding or giving human milk to their baby in any amount… no matter what your feeding journey looks like.’
Its ‘Queer Milk’ initiative involves weekly sessions in Edinburgh which are apparently open to biological men that identify as women – people who are, of course, unable to lactate naturally.

My letter to the Mayor of Hackney on plans to terminate their twinning with Haifa. As Leader of a council with hugely positive relationship with t Shoham in central Israel (twinned with Borehamwood) I'm clear that if Hackney walks away from Haifa, Hertsmere will walk towards it..
The likes of Bob Vylan and Kneecap pose as brave and free speech advocates.
At the same time it is Jews, Israelis, Zionists who are cancelled, not those who laud the aims of terrorists.
It’s fair to say @BoyGeorge is an imperfect hero (as the best heroes often are) but this is one of the bravest things I’ve seen a celebrity do.
Thank you @BoyGeorge
British pop icon Boy George has released a new song called "We Will Dance Again," standing firmly with Israel and calling out the world's "selective memory" about the atrocities of October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre. In the song he sings: "You never mention October 7. Young girls raped against trees. Murdered brutally. For the crime of dancing. You condemn the Jews with selective memory." The chorus echoes the Nova festival survivors' rallying cry: "We will dance again." The song ends with a line in Hebrew.
This is not the first time Boy George has spoken up - he previously signed a letter supporting Israel's participation in Eurovision, and told interviewers: "Am I supposed to turn my back on my Jewish friends? That is not going to happen. Not ever." 🇮🇱🎵

There is great confusion about what Decolonization and indeed Colonization means.
The fact is: it means very little except 'a culture or mindset you dont like.' For whatever reason. And that usually means: the West. Since the West decolonized long ago, it really means the Western liberal democracies. It is a smart criticism because it means nothing, and hence it is hard to disagree with nothing and furthermore since the West itself is embroiled in a mix of moral fuddlement, political paralysis and cultural self hatred, you can be sure that Western leaders are very embarrassed by the very use of the word and many in the West will actually agree - even though they are not sure what they are agreeing with. it is a very useful rhetorical tool because Westerns are always going to be worried to answer in any meaningful way other than guilt and shame; and it is a growing industry - perfect for endless conferences. Like this one.
The reality of empires and colonies is something else entirely.
In early modern times, the Ottoman Turks conquered colonized enslaved exploited murdered and forcefully converted millions and ruled a vast tricontinental empire for four centuries; the Western powers led by Spain Portugal France and Britain later joined by Italy Germany Belgium also conquered colonized enslaved exploited murdered and converted using missionaries huge empires across the continents.
The Iberians lost much of their empires first; the Ottoman sultanate-caliphate started to decolonize with the Greek war of independence in 1820s and totally disintegrated in 1918; the British and French decolonized between 1940s and Sixties.
You could argue the Americans and Soviets comported themselves like anti-imperial imperialists during the Cold War and after - and indeed today's America toys at times with neo-tsarist expansionism - Greenland etc .
Thats it - noone in the Legacy Powers Britain or France etc seems keen on colonizing anything now; there are almost no colonizations left to decolonize - though many love to denounce their own country's past which is for some a most enjoyable enriching and virtuous pastime.
But in real life, empire and colonization are happening, often perpetrated by the very proponents of antiWest rhetoric. Russia is attempting to retake its limotrophic empire in Ukraine right now the old -fashioned way: by conquest and killing; a phalanx of Middle East neo-imperial powers are engaged in tournaments of power in failing states like Somalia, Libya and benighted Sudan; Iran established an informal empire across Iraq Syria Lebanon Yemen in its Six Armies strategy - its final destiny as yet undecided on the battlefield of the Third Gulf War; and Turkish leaders now regularly and openly declare their wish to reassert Ottomanist power in former Ottoman vilayets Syria Lebanon Israel, and former Ottoman cities Damascus Beirut Jerusalem....
So imperialism and colonialism just mean: other people, but never you.
