Ambassador Tom Barrack is now “Special Presidential Envoy” to Syria as well as Iraq, and will still serve as Ambassador to Turkey. His influence grows.

This gives Barrack even more power in Syria and the region. According to all accounts, Trump and Rubio have been happy to cede the management of Syria to Barrack. Barrack has little oversight and does not have a ton of coordination with those under him, either.

I have told many people not to wait for Barrack to leave — he is as much a Trump insider as you can get. Barrack will stay until he either decides to retire, or Trump loses an election. He is immune to pressure, such as the Israel-aligned Republicans who grumble that he should be fired.

Barrack been a fellow deal maker in real estate with Trump since the 1980s. He learned early on (with the sale of the Plaza Hotel in 1988) how to manipulate Trump. When Trump decided to run for office in 2015, Barrack became a fundraiser for him, and even played a key role in convincing some Arab politicians that Trump might be good for the Middle East. Perhaps Barrack, too, saw opportunity — all he seems to want is to restore the strongman-style centralization, monarch-led governance, and corrupt cronyism that has long cast shadows over Middle East countries.

This is not to mention the questionable relationship Barrack seems to have had with the demonic Jeffrey Epstein. Some believe that Barrack has Epstein-related kompromat over Trump and is thereby able to influence him.

I actually doubt however that any new revelations could further disgrace Donald Trump. We all know that he is a horrendous and disgusting man — who just happens to have bafflingly captured the loyalty of a staggering number of American voters.

Barrack’s power grows in the ranks of Trump-insider real estate developers leading Middle East policy.

Barrack is one of those highly unusual Trump insiders who has stayed on Trump’s good side for many years. I expect him to stay in office for a lot longer. @USAMBTurkiye
