@heatpolicyrich Not sure if this is off-topic but I’d imagine many people who cook with gas would like to continue to cook with “gas” - even if that is a “zero carbon” gas. And they may then ask that, if they can cook with it, why can’t they continue to do most/all of their heating with it also.
@baldwinbiogas @heatpolicyrich@EarthOrgUK I will also be coming from (championing) the “user experience” side of all of this. Not something that’s always easy to do the maths on! (And heat engineers are people too ; )
@EarthOrgUK@heatpolicyrich As I will no longer have a job at the end of this month (thanks @ON5_UK !) I will now be concentrating on my @HanselGretelW13 self build. My question now will be “do I run a gas pipe to the properties?” ... From my reading of that article, my thinking may well be “yes”.
@EarthOrgUK@heatpolicyrich If it’s possible to generate “lots” of electricity from renewables then it may not matter so much how the energy is used. Especially if energy storage is the result... As a lay person, I have no idea what the “best” option is as I haven’t done all the maths!
Care about the climate emergency and want lower your environmental impact at home?

Some thoughts on the myth of silver linings, the strategically dumb speculation on green gains, and how nothing is certain about the eventual recovery. In the coronavirus crisis, everything rests on the choices we make. https://t.co/gwWxFmsCYY
Spread the word! It's a scandal that VAT is charged at a rate of 20% on repairs and maintenance on existing buildings, while VAT on nearly all new-build construction is zero-rated. The power of the massive house-building lobby. We must be encouraged to repair and retrofit!
Yesterday I get the great news that my planning application for two homes in West London was approved. Naturally, the first thing was to create a Twitter account for the project! @HanselGretelW13 (and, yes, there is a story behind the name 👫 ; )
Transport is the climate 'bad boy' of the EU economy - the only sector to grow its emissions since 1990
@TimmermansEU @AdinaValean, here's our vision for how the #EUGreenDeal can turn that around:
