uploaded a shorter concise version of the bruno files controversy. once again sorry to expose people to this gross behaviour. YT short version in reply #seaofthieves
"you try to give people the benefit of the doubt, see both sides" mf you played with him a couple WEEKS after he was exposed for being sexually inappropriate with minors. You people are so anti-sot criticism that you uplift these nonces out of spite. Good job #seaofthieves
He may be banned, but this is not over.
Bruno was elevated to Boatswain because certain individuals brought his name up to the Community Management team for promotion in the first place.
He was then further endorsed by various Boatswains, Mods, and Community Managers. Some of whom KNEW about Bruno’s inappropriate jokes and behavior toward a minor, yet still gave their approval without even looking into whether @HeSlashThem was fit to represent the Sea of Thieves community.
@j0toro, @Taaaaamas, and @mopwielder were aware of these concerns, but chose to dismiss them as “drama” while defending the situation with statements like “people can learn and grow” or “we shouldn’t let bullies dictate which way we go”
Framing concerns about inappropriate behavior toward a minor simply as “drama” while labeling those raising concerns about it as “nasty voices” is concrete proof that these people helping lead a major community like #SeaOfThieves, lack the experience and professionalism needed for their roles.
Again, to be abundantly clear, this is not directed at every Mod, Boatswain, or CM. This is directed at those who happen to be these, but have repeatedly shown poor judgment, awful behavior, and forever damaged the image of Sea of Thieves in the process.
The boatswain system needs to go. Elevating regular players into this strange in-between role, where they act as representatives of the game (while having friendships with members of Rare’s team) creates this super confusing and unhealthy dynamic that allows players to be in positions they don't need to be in in the first place.
Not everyone who speaks against you is a bad person, and not everyone who stands beside you is a good one. People raise concerns because they genuinely care about the game and its community. Others go along with the status quo simply to stay close to Rare, maintain influence, or protect their position. That behavior needs to end. Immediately.
So, until the Community Managers and Mods involved step down from their roles at @RareLtd & @SeaOfThieves, I cannot view this community as the safe and welcoming space it once was.
Make your voices known. Unapologetically stand up to this behavior.
So even after all the backlash SOT Mods received during this situation, they still wanna censor our lovely forum users.
We let a predator talk freely, but me asking to revamp the community moderation program to include community feedback on mod issues is too much.
#FREESOT
In true Sea of Thieves fashion, after the latest talk about Bruno occurred in the official Discord server, the moderation team went on a mass muting wave, effectively silencing anyone who made a comment on the matter, including a majority of civil comments. #SeaOfThieves
This is a fucking disgrace. Bruno is banned now, but just because you lock the wolf away from the farm doesn’t mean more won’t get hurt.
There’s a higher up command that allowed this to stop today, but also allowed it to continue previously for over a year, aka the community manager team.
People like J0toro, MopWieldingHedgehog, Christina, Owlet and so on have to be sat down and talked with. How in the hell is this even possible? How could they have gotten away with this?
a statement needs to come out, potentially even firing people too.
What happened over the span of time caused NUMEROUS MINORS to be targeted and preyed upon and abused by this DISGUSTING fucking vermin Bruno. This is literally criminal level activities that he committed, has been committing, and the team is silent about it. They were also silent about it while people have been talking about it FOR OVER A YEAR NOW and they brushed it under the rug and more than likely treated it as false accusations.
There needs to be serious change and reprimand, as well as reform within the walls of the community manager team. These people need talked to, and taken out of the community.
This needs to be fucking fixed immediately. There is ZERO room for “missing the mark” or admitting an accident. This is far beyond that.
@SeaOfThieves #SeaOfThieves
You know whats funny?
If Bruno didn't get boatswain, if his ego didn't provoke big content creators like Theb or Noobface he would probably get away with this
This is example of cocky man that is backed and promoted by CMs and mods
It's too late for being sorry, we demand heads
I can’t even put into words how disheartening it is to see #SeaOfThieves in the state it’s currently in.
We have Community Managers behaving unprofessionally, Discord mods acting like they rule the world, and both think they're above the rest of us. United in censoring discussion around individuals who have absolutely ZERO place in this community and pose an actual threat to everyone in it. All while players are constantly being gaslit by those same CMs and mods into believing the community isn’t in complete disarray when it very clearly is.
What makes this even worse is that these are the very people whose job is supposed to be upholding the community’s values, the Pirate Code, and Microsoft’s Terms of Service. But it feels like nothing is being enforced at all.
Situations like this are 100% avoidable too. If the CM team had genuinely listened to the community and addressed these concerns and allegations early on and did something about it, things never would have reached this point.
To be clear, this issue has absolutely nothing to do with the production or creative development side of the game. Please don't tag developers, artists, designers, or other team members into discussions they have no involvement in. Our criticism and calls to action are specifically directed at the community management side of Sea of Thieves. That team needs serious retraining, and a reevaluation of whether certain individuals even possess the requirements needed to continue representing the Sea of Thieves community in their current roles.
I'm so tired of this, I just want to play the game man...
