Tragic news today: a bus from Belarus with young football players was hit in Russia's Bryansk region, near the border with Ukraine. A teacher was killed, and several children were hospitalized.

For years, Lukashenka's regime has downplayed the dangers of Russia's war against Ukraine. Sending children through a region bordering an active war zone is yet another crime against the Belarusian people.

The father of fallen Polish volunteer Daniel Shtiber has handed over his son’s car to Ukrainian soldiers.

Daniel was killed in the Luhansk region in November 2022 while saving a fellow comrade. He served in reconnaissance within the International Legion.

His father, Mirosław Shtiber, continues his son’s mission and says:

“Only together can we be strong. If we act separately, we become weaker… Ukraine and Poland — forever!” 🇵🇱🤝🇺🇦

The car they once bought together is now back at the front.

Вони не мали красивої історії знайомства.

Не було випадкової зустрічі в кав’ярні. Не було романтичних подорожей, освідчення на березі моря чи спільних фото з безтурботної юності.

У них була війна.

Катерині було лише вісімнадцять.

Вона жила на Луганщині. Разом із мамою пекла пироги й носила їх українським військовим на позиції. Саме там вона зустріла розвідника Сергія Ющенка.

Він був значно старший за неї. За плечима мав військову службу, бойовий досвід, поранення, непросте життя і двох дітей від першого шлюбу.

Здавалося, між ними занадто велика різниця.

Але війна часто стирає все зайве й залишає тільки справжнє.

Катерина покохала Сергія.

По-справжньому. Без умов. Без застережень. Без страху. І попри все.

У травні 2016 року його розвідгрупа підірвалася на міні. Один військовий загинув. Сергій вижив, але отримав страшні поранення. Ураження обличчя, грудної клітки, хребта, внутрішніх органів. Лікарі не приховували: шансів на повноцінне відновлення майже немає. Він може більше ніколи не ходити.

Для багатьох така новина стала б кінцем романтичної історії.
Тільки не для Катерини.

Вона їздила за ним по шпиталях. Домагалася, щоб її пустили в реанімацію. Годинами сиділа біля ліжка. Вчилася жити чужим болем так, ніби він був її власним. Коли інші бачили важкопораненого бійця з невідомим майбутнім, вона бачила чоловіка, якого любила.

У серпні того ж року вся Україна побачила фотографії, які неможливо було забути.

Біла весільна сукня. Львівський військовий шпиталь. Молоденька наречена.

І наречений у військовій формі, який ще не міг самостійно ходити.

4 серпня 2016 року вони одружилися просто у шпитальному сквері. Волонтери встановили арку, прикрасили її квітами, запросили музикантів. Тоді про це весілля писали десятки українських видань. Люди плакали над фотографіями незнайомих їм молодят. Бо в тих світлинах було щось більше за романтику. У них була вірність.

А далі почалося справжнє життя.

Без камер.

Без журналістів.

Без красивих заголовків.

Катерина вчила чоловіка жити заново. Допомагала проходити реабілітацію. Разом вони облаштовували своє житло у Глухові. Разом переживали біль, розчарування і маленькі перемоги. Сергій учився бути самостійним. Вчився знову жити. І поруч із ним завжди була вона.

Коли Сергій трохи зміцнів, сталося те, чого багато хто не очікував.

Катерина сама одягла військову форму.

Ще з дитинства вона мріяла бути військовою. І у 2018 році здійснила свою мрію, вступивши до лав Збройних сил України. Вона ніби продовжила шлях, який війна колись забрала у її чоловіка.

Почалося повномасштабне вторгнення.

Вона служила.

Виконувала бойові завдання.

Шукала допомогу для побратимів.

Піклувалася про інших так само, як колись піклувалася про Сергія.

4 квітня 2023 року російський авіаудар по Чернігівщині забрав її життя.

Катерині було лише 25 років.

Через кілька місяців Сергій написав слова, які неможливо читати без болю:

«Чотири місяці, як загинула моя кохана дружина. Покинула назавжди цей неідеальний світ, в якому ми побудували своє щастя…»

У цій історії є страшна несправедливість.

Колись молода дівчина відмовилася від власного життя, щоб врятувати пораненого коханого.

Вона вірила в нього тоді, коли багато хто вже не вірив.

Вона повернула його до життя.

А потім сама пішла захищати Україну і не повернулася.

Їхня історія — це не лише історія любові чоловіка і жінки.

Це історія покоління українців, яке навчилося кохати під звуки сирен, будувати сім’ї між ротаціями, мріяти посеред війни й жертвувати найдорожчим заради інших.

Історія Катерини та Сергія Ющенків нагадує нам просту річ.

Справжнє кохання не вимірюється кількістю прожитих років.

Воно вимірюється тим, скільки ти готовий віддати за людину, яку любиш.

Катерина віддала все.

Світла пам’ять Захисниці України.
І великому коханню, яке народилося на війні й виявилося сильнішим за смерть.

BREAKING: Sweden is urging more EU countries to board and inspect ships suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet arguing that support for Ukraine must be backed by action, not just words.

In a letter to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard and Civil Defence Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin called on EU governments to take a tougher approach toward vessels which help Moscow circumvent Western sanctions.

"We urge other EU countries to live up to the beautiful words delivered in meetings and interviews about standing up for Ukraine. They must also do so in action," Stenergard said.

Asked whether other countries should begin boarding such vessels, she replied: "Start boarding in accordance with international law."

Swedish authorities have boarded five suspected shadow fleet vessels since March. According to Stockholm, the operations have already had an impact, with some ships reportedly altering routes to avoid Swedish territorial waters.
However, Sweden says rerouting alone is not enough and wants other European countries to inspect and take action against vessels that pass through their waters.

When asked whether Sweden had received any response from its European partners, she said:

"Not much response yet, but I hope that even if they don't say it publicly, they take note of this. It is actually a criticism of not doing enough, and I hope they start considering whether they should contribute to a greater extent themselves."

Russians are scared.

Successful strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine have forced the Russians to prepare for the landing of Ukrainian groups in Crimea - a spokesperson for the Defense Forces said in the afternoon

Russia plans to deploy nearly two dozen watercraft from the Dnieper River Flotilla of the Black Sea Fleet to search for and destroy Ukrainian unmanned boats and reconnaissance groups.

According to Voloshin in a comment to "Ukrinform", the enemy intends to conduct reconnaissance and search operations in the coastal zone from Portovoe to Vityno on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula.

All this suggests that after a series of successful strikes on military facilities in Crimea, the Russians are seriously afraid of new actions by the Defense Forces and possible landings of Ukrainian groups in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Kherson region.

Russia has begun importing gasoline by sea amid growing fuel shortages, Reuters reports, citing industry sources.

According to the agency, Russia is expected to receive gasoline shipments from Asia through its western ports in June — the first such imports in a long time. The situation is notable given that Russia is traditionally one of the world’s largest exporters of petroleum products.

Reuters links the shortages to months of Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, pipelines, and fuel storage facilities. Following recent attacks, operations were reportedly suspended or disrupted at major facilities, including the Moscow Oil Refinery and TANECO.

Fuel shortages have already been reported in around a dozen Russian regions. In response, Moscow has extended its ban on gasoline exports until the end of July and has begun seeking additional fuel supplies from abroad.

Bulgaria has blocked the 21st EU sanctions package against Russia due to a proposal to include Patriarch Kirill on the sanctions list – Politico.

Kirill is a close ally of the mass murderer Putin and has publicly justified Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine as a "holy" or "metaphysical" struggle.
• The EU views him as a prominent supporter of the aggression; consequently, he was proposed for sanctions as early as 2022 (though Hungary blocked the move at the time).
• Kirill is considered one of the wealthiest and most politically powerful religious leaders in the world and actively uses his position to promote Kremlin propaganda.
