DEMOCRACY DAY: CELEBRATING OUR DEMOCRACY, RENEWING OUR HOPE

As we commemorate Democracy Day, I join the good people of Ogun State and Nigerians across the country in celebrating the enduring strength of our democracy and the sacrifices of those who fought to secure it.

Today, we pay tribute to the heroes of democracy, particularly the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, whose courage, sacrifice and commitment to democratic ideals remain a source of inspiration to generations of Nigerians.

Democracy remains the foundation upon which we build a society of justice, peace, accountability and shared prosperity. While challenges remain, there is every reason to be hopeful about the future of our nation and our dear Ogun State.

As a government and as a people, we must continue to strengthen our democratic institutions, promote unity and support policies and initiatives that improve the lives of our citizens. The developmental strides being witnessed across Ogun State are a testament to what can be achieved through visionary leadership, good governance and the collective support of the people.

As we celebrate this important day, let us renew our commitment to the values of democracy and continue working together for a more prosperous Ogun State and a greater Nigeria.

Returning to Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta — my alma mater — was deeply emotional and inspiring. Yesterday, I had the honour of commissioning the renovated Chemistry Laboratory facilitated by our proud 1981 Set.
This school shaped my values, nurtured my dreams and stood by me from my earliest political journey. I remain forever grateful to my teachers, mentors and fellow old students whose support planted the seed that continues to grow today.
Beyond celebrating this milestone, I also visited the school library which deserves urgent attention and inspected areas of concern regarding land encroachment. Our commitment remains firm — to protect, preserve and further develop our beloved school.
Rev. Kuti gave us so much; giving back is not charity, it is responsibility.
Together, we will continue to build a stronger future for generations to come.
