His little brother fell 100 feet. He went down after him.
A 3-year-old boy plunged nearly 100 feet down a cliff and disappeared beneath the freezing water of a creek. Before rescuers could reach him, his 7-year-old brother went down the very same cliff to try to save his life.
Dakota Duke was hiking with his family in Oklahoma when his little brother, Riley, slipped over the edge. Dakota did not hesitate. He scrambled down the steep, rocky slope, injuring himself along the way, until he reached the water below.
Riley was underwater, badly hurt, and Dakota was not strong enough to pull him out. So the 7-year-old jumped into the freezing creek, grabbed his little brother, and lifted his head above the surface. He held him there, refusing to let him slip beneath the water again as rescuers raced to reach them.
Riley suffered a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a serious brain injury. Dakota needed stitches himself. But both boys survived. After everything they had been through, they were eventually back home together.
Dakota was only 7 years old. He could not carry his brother to safety, but he did the one thing that mattered most: he kept him breathing until help arrived. Thank God!
A man named Mohd Rafikul recently approached Calcutta high court seeking quashing of an FIR filed by a Hindu woman who accused him of posing as Hindu, pretending to be unmarried, making sexual relations with her after pretending to marry her in a mandir, and assaulting her when she learnt of his first wife and kids
Rafikul, in his defence, claimed that he never posed as a Hindu, never married her in a temple, and never made relations with her
Instead, he claimed he was a victim of blackmailing by her, calling her a "gold digger", as he is a govt employee in police
But Calcutta high court found that as per police investigation, the pujari of the mandir, where Rafikul put sindoor in the woman's forehead as a token ritual of marriage, was told his name was "Rajiv Sarkar"
The landlord of the house where Rafikul started living with the woman also testified that he gave his name as "Rajiv Sarkar"
Court dismissed Rafikul's petition to quash the FIR, noting that there was sufficient evidence against him to be tried in lower court for charges like cheating by impersonation, fraud, cruelty on wife, assaulting her etc. Court noted that the state does not have an anti-forced conversion law yet
Such blatant cases of Muslim men posing as Hindus to trap women across India, and yet only a few states have a law that punishes forced conversion through such traps
We @sewanyaya@rashtrajyoti are currently fighting a legal battle in Supreme Court in defence of these existing laws after several petitions sought those be struck down
This case is yet another reminder why our campaign to keep these laws, push for their stronger enforcement, along with massive awareness on bhoomi, is most crucial today
A 2-year-old boy was strapped inside his stroller when it rolled down a hill and plunged into a deep pond. As the stroller sank underwater, his grandmother was desperately struggling to save another child, unable to reach the little boy trapped below.
It happened in Carmel, Indiana, where 15-year-old Maddox Larger and his 14-year-old brother Grant were fishing nearby when they noticed a family struggling in the water.
The brothers immediately rushed to help, managing to get the grandmother and a 4-year-old child to safety. But their relief was short-lived when they discovered that the youngest child was still missing, trapped underwater inside his stroller.
Maddox went straight back into the pond, searching water approximately eight feet deep until he located the submerged stroller. He managed to pull it to the surface and unbuckle the little boy, but when he brought him out of the water, he realized something was terribly wrong. The toddler wasn’t breathing.
Remembering first aid he’d learned at school, Maddox began delivering back blows, desperately trying to get the little boy breathing again. After those terrifying moments, the toddler finally began to breathe.
What started as an ordinary day of fishing ended with two teenage brothers saving three lives. At just 14 and 15 years old, Maddox and Grant showed incredible courage when it mattered most. They deserve some serious recognition.
@DOGEQEEN Thank goodness he knew how to swim after jumping 50 ft! How come Disney Cruises, which targets kids and families, have not kid-proofed their cruise ships for such accidents?
